Anyone else have a squeaky driver's seat?

I just noticed this morning that my driver's seat is sqeaking when I take corners or lean back. This isn't a big issue, but after only driving the new Limited for a month or so, I'm wondering if this is a common problem people have had with the seats. And if so, is there an easy fix?

Yes, lots of us seem to have it. It appears to be due to a poorly designed lumbar support. Supposedly this has been an issue for a while, and Toyota has neglected to do anything about. I haven't heard of a legitimate fix.

My seat doesn't have a rattle or squeak, but it appears to be loose in the tracks. If you sit in the seat, it sinks down in the right rear corner. If you get out of the vehicle and grab the back of the seat and push, I can push the seat down about 1.5 inches. Searching the Internet, I see this complaint all over the place. It appears to have started with the 4th gen. The fix is to replace the seat track, but that part is showing to be around 350.00 and most complain that the problem returns.

My 4runner is developing a lot of squeaks. And they drive me crazy. I don't know what it is either about Toyota and their reluctance to fix anything. They wouldn't fix the gas pedal issue and we know what that did to not only their reputation and our book values, but also their pocket book. Now this seat problem has been here since 03 and they haven't fixed it? I had an 04 Lexus that had a transmission slipping problem where it would slip if you did a rolling stop and then got back on the gas. It was like the transmission couldn't decide what gear to be in and it would finally shift down to first gear and it would jerk really bad. I got rid of it for that reason after 4 trips to the dealer and all they would do is upgrade the software.

I am starting to have bad feelings toward Toyota and I may not ever buy one again. This seat thing really pisses me off because they should have fixed it years ago, but they sit on their hands and do nothing. The problem is annoying.

Mine does it too. Sounds like something is rubbing odd when you lean back. Warranty.com

Yeah, mine did it too for the first 20,000 miles or so. But has seemed to fix itself. It doesn't squeak anymore.

I found that playing with the power seating controls helps. I maxed everything out in one direction, and then the other direction... seemed to tighten something up a bit. It's quiet now.

Thanks for the responses... hmm... maybe it's the cold weather. It's not driving me crazy (yet) so I'll hold off unitl it warms up to make an issue of it.

Mine squeaks too when it gets cold enough... Not a huge deal but really really annoying.

Bought mine in Aug. Has 4300 miles now. Was parked outside at work overnight and got down to 29* The thing squeaked like crazy any time I leaned back or hit bumps. After driving 20 minutes or so it stopped. After it warmed up Im sure. This BS is going to be one of the things the dealer will never get to see because it will be fine by the time I get there. And no its not the cheap azz lumbar junk material. UNACCEPTABLE.

Interesting. Mine isn't squeaking, but I have noticed over the last week, It's started to make a "click" when I sit down initially, or when I hard accelerate. It's like something is "snapping" into place, like when you snap in a side panel or something. It doesn't do it "every time", but it's enough to where I noticed it. I'm going in to the dealer in 600 miles for my tire rotation, I'm going to mention it then. It doesn't appear to be effecting any functions, everything works fine. The only other thing I can think of, is a few months ago, the seat back wasn't reclining properly. (Only one side would recline). I'm wondering if that wasn't fixed correctly, or if one of the plastic pieces is just clicking in and out. I'm not sure, but it's annoying.

When my seats are reclined all the way and I bounce very hard I do hear some squeaking....wait, what? Oh - never mind. :bluejump:

I had the same issue. Brought it to the dealer. at first they applied some spray to the tracks but the noise came back. I took it back a second time and the dealer explained to me that they had to remove the seat and tighten some screws and since then it has not been a problem. The squeaking and grinding noise drove me nuts and usually occurred when I made turns.

My seat was rattling in the tracks. After a couple of trips to the dealer, they replaced the seat tract assemble...and then the lower trim...and then the upholstery...

Everything's OK...for now...

Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

My driver seat has gone from a mild squeak I could barely hear to sounding like an old shitty bed every time I brake. If you are at a stop and just let go and reapply the brakes jerking the car you will get a loud audible squeak noise while the seat bounces. It's very very very noticeable.
