Anyone else special order a 4Runner?

For me, if I'm gonna spend $40k on a new rig, I figured I'd get it exactly as I wanted it, no more, no less. That meant special ordering it instead of picking a stock one off the lot which might have a bunch of extra crap I would never use. (Heated seats in Texas? Are you kidding me?)

Picked my LE up yesterday! I originally ordered a 2016 LE Silver, no running boards and no 3rd row. They called me a couple weeks ago and said they could only get one with auto running boards for another $1500. I told them I didn't want the boards so they offered it for $700 instead.

so you will never leave texas during the winter? I have heated seats and a bad back so I run them even during the summer to help with the pain. love them.
 
I've gotten this far without them in my current ride, so I think I could make due and save on the money they would cost to have them included.

If you special ordered your LE, they should have been able to remove them at the finishing plant after it hit the docks. I opted out of running boards, too, saving me the money.
 
Hmm, I kinda boubt it. THe vehicle is all pre-wired for it. I doubt you could just drop them in another 4runner without a lot of work.

$1500 to me was a little outrageous, $700 was fair I think.
 
Ordered my TE premium with KDSS and running boards on 10-26-15. Built on 10-29-15. Shipped from Japan on 11-5-15. Arrived in Newark port on 12-5-15. Salesman has been sending me daily update reports. Report indicated that the vehicle will be shipped to dealer between 12-7 and 12-11.
 
My TRD Pro is set to get off the boat tomorrow. The dealer is anticipating that it will take a couple more weeks for it to get of the boat and onto the train and out to me in AZ. Supposedly once the rig gets off of the boat there are more exact and reliable updates on delivery. All I know is that I hope that it gets here soon. I just sold my car yesterday. So, I am now relying on the girlfriend and her car to take me everywhere I need to go until the new ride gets here.
 
2016 Limited

Found a 2016 in transit (on boat) took 3 weeks to get to Tennessee. Dealer searched for another options at other dealers, but there were none with the color/options I wanted available. This was in the late Oct/Nov timeframe.

Mine arrived at dealer today, will hopefully pick it up by Saturday

You musta got mine! I ordered a '16 Black TE w/KDSS and no running boards, too. Did you get the cargo deck? The only thing lacking would be that and the limo tinting I'm having done. =P
 
Ordered a 2016 TRDP AUG 28th. It was delivered NOV 3rd. Right around 9 weeks. Original delivery date was OCT 20th. That was pushed back to OCT 27th, then again to NOV 3rd.
 
I order a new 4Runner every couple years, my average is about 3 1/2 months . I don't know how you guys get them so quick . I order from the largest Toyota dealer in the nation. I placed the order for my 2016 on 10/19 and not expecting it untill early February.
 
how late to wait?

I'm hoping to wait until late in the MY to order.

How late/soon must I place an order to get it fulfilled?
