Anyone else special order a 4Runner?

I'm now on my 3rd internet sales guy with the dealership I'm working with. The other two have been promoted in the time it's taken for my 4Runner to get built and delivered. With 3 weeks left on the clock, I wonder if I'll have at least one more guy manage my account before it hits the lot. Continuity is definitely not their strong suit.

ORRRR....maybe the salesman are so great they just keep moving up the ladder? Nothing like have the best person to handle your job. . well used to at least. Or maybe you are just good luck and they sold you their only TRD allotment so they are just getting promoted like crazy with whoever touches your name! haha

That's kinda what the current sales guy said. He claims it's not just because internet sales seems to be where the amateurs play until they get a sale or two and get moved on to floor sales. Whatever.. as long as my order is processed properly and I get the service I'm expecting with a $40k vehicle, I could care less who handles my case.

Asked the dealer to find my 16 Silver/Black Trail Premium on 11/9. They worked a dealer trade in Kentucky on 12/7. Was ordering if one wasn't found but figured I could wait on a dealer trade with the few options TEPs have, and the fact I didn't want KDSS.

Only miles it had on arrival were put on driving from the other dealership.

Having the Toyota plant next door and the dealer being one of the largest in the country helps their trade stock. Your mileage will probably vary depending on the dealers volume.

I was told up to 14 weeks for delivery of my 2016 4Runner TE, but that was all dependent on what was on the boat at the time the deposit was paid. If one close to what I wanted was already in transit, it could be as short as 30 days. If it's having to be made in Japan (as I'm assuming all 2016 models are at the moment), then 14 weeks would be more realistic. Have you guys special ordered a 4Runner before and how long did it take for yours to come in?

I ordered my 2016 Limited August 2nd had it delivered to me on October 31st. Dealer kept me in the loop as to its progress. Well worth the wait.

My 2016 classic silver metallic trail premium showed up at dealer on Sunday 2/14 . Ordered on 10/21 . I'm going to pick it up today or possibly tomorrow morning.

Mine was supposed to hit the docks on the 2/12 and be at the lot by now, but so far, no delivery. The sales guy says it'll 'be here this week' and that once it's on the boat, they can't actually speak to anyone about where it's at until it arrives. This has been the most painful month of waiting EVER!

Just picked up

I wanted a nearly stripped TE, and I couldn't find one that didn't have running boards, exhaust tip, etc. I ordered a White one with Entune, remote start and roof rack cross bars, nothing else not even the usually obligatory floor mats. The dealer located it through their system just before it hit the boat. I ordered it in early January. The build date for the truck was 24DEC. I picked it up on 12FEB. Very painless process, but I did have to ask the sales rep to give me updates, no way to track it myself.

Port installed options are easy, and only add a day or so when it hits the beach. Things like entune, KDSS, etc. that are factory can be much longer. According to my dealer, if I had ordered without entune, it would have been 4 months as essentially every truck through the line in Japan has it installed.

I went to the dealer on February 4 to either order or buy a 4Runner, depending on whether they had what I wanted in stock. Was told they do not do "special orders", and neither of my preferred color choices (blue or red) were in stock. They also could locate on in those colors at any other dealer in the county, and there were none expected to come in for the next 90 days.

I ended up buying one in silver. It's not a big deal, I like the silver, but after reading the comments here it seems the dealer lied to me.

Yeah.. sounds like they kinda screwed you over. Knowing that kind of dealer, even if they had found what you wanted at another lot, they probably would have hand driven the vehicle across town rather than trucking it up. My last Toyota (purchased 'brand new' 12 years ago) had 200 miles already on it when I got it because they didn't haul it in.

As a result of that experience, I confirmed twice from my current dealer that the vehicle would be trucked in and if it had more than 5 miles on the odometer, I wouldn't proceed with the purchase.

Just picked up my special order 2016 trail premium with 2 miles , right off boat to me. I love it . it's perfect . The quality on these is just so amazing. dealership did my personal settings and disabled that seatbelt chime. I'm in the driveway laying underneath it. The rear end looks like it's polished gloss black checking out all the build date stickers . that smell when there new. This one came with the Bridgestone tires. My 15 had the Dunlops and I'm very happy I got the Bridgestone's this time. Noticed much larger cargo area without the cargo deck slider also .
Ordered 10/21/15 built 1/20/16 dealer 2/14/16

I wavered back and forth on whether or not to keep the slide out cargo tray after I ordered mine. I decided to stick with it knowing I can always remove it later if I wanted.

Mine came with Bridgestone Duelers. I'll get some pictures taken this morning since I picked it up after the sun went down last night and it's kinda hard to get good pictures when then vehicle is midnight black.

Muh new T4RTE w/KDSS in Midnight Black. They didn't tint the back dark enough, so I'm taking it back in next week to get the back blacked out and the front one shade lighter than limo black.

Well... I knew I was going to wait awhile when I was getting ready to order a TE with KDSS, but I got lucky and someone backed out & I didn't wait at all, besides the couple of hours spent at the dealer.

I was more impressed with the size of those houses. Then I remembered you're in Texas and you get tons of house for the money. Makes me a bit jealous.
