Anyone ever painting existing chrome trim to match body paint?

So after removing them, painting or plasti-dipping them just re double sided tape them back on?
Local auto body shop would have the tape or a resource to purchase?

If you're just looking to plasti dip, save yourself the trouble and just leave them on the truck. Peels right off the paint and works perfectly without having to remove them.

depending on your budget, you can just buy a limited, painted, oem grill assembly for around $175 - you may be able to find it cheaper - I did a quick search and found this:

Toyota 4Runner (2006-2009). #5310035A03C0: Grille.

Just buy the limited part, it's part number 5310035A03C0 (for black)

Thanks for the suggestion, but $175 for a grill I have to cut and paint anyway is a bit steep...

I'm actually tempted to try to remove the chrome

it comes painted. you just have to find the right part number, i thought you were looking for black, but you can find it in white. Not sure what you mean by cutting?

I didn't realize in comes in my body color already... That makes it more attractive.

By cutting I mean taking the grill and modifying it - Look up "Satoshi Grill" - That's largely the point of this thread.

Seeing as how this is the first time in the thread you mention it, there's no way anyone could have known your intentions past painting/plastidipping it.

You are correct, my apologies.

I started two threads recently and got them mixed up.

In summary, I am planning on doing the Satoshi. However, the challenge is the chrome finish on the existing grill. I'm trying to get some ideas on how to proceed. I appreciate all the input guys!

Is the Plasti-Dip easy enough to remove that I could "experiment" with colors?
For instance a copper Toyota symbol in the grill and Gray badges/grill frame(2007 black sr5) and if I did not like it....just peel and re-do the color scheme?
