Anyone go with a smaller tire size?

I have an '03 T4R Limited and need of a new set of tires... After a little research, I've decided to go with a set of Revos. Here's my question...

Has anyone gone with a smaller tires size? I found a dealer that discontinued carrying that model and is clearancing its Revo stock. The dealer has a set of 255/65-17 for $100 a tire.

Does anyone have any pics of their truck with that tire size?

Other than the speedo reading 2% faster, any other downside?

Yeah, you're total mileage (odometer reading) will also read higher, causing faster depreciation of your 4R. I wouldn't do it.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Since my rig has 107K on it and I plan to drive it into the groud, the 1.7% speedo variance isn't a major concern, so, I decided to purchase the tires from Fleet Farm. Discount Tire couldn't even touch the $100 price per tire. In fact, the gentleman I spoke with said that he honestly would recommend I purchase the tires there as soon as I can. The Direct Tire rep said, "It's an absolutely phenomenal price."

So, I'm having the 255/65-17 tires installed on Wednesday. The tires are lighter and have wider tread than the Michelins CT's being replaced. The sidewall is a wee bit shorter in spec, but it shouldn't look much different at all. Since the vertical of the sidewall should be almost the same, due to the inherent curvature that exists when a wider tire is placed on a smaller wheel (i.e 265's placed on a 7.5" rim), all should be well. In fact, Bridgestone recommends placing a 265 Revo on an 8.0" wheel and 255 on a 7.5" wheel. Who knows... It's six of one and a half dozen of another. We'll see... Hope it looks good. I'm just pumped to get rid of the CT's and pick up a real tire.

P.S. Fleet Farm also just recently sold out of its 265/70-17 Bridgestone Revos in my area (within a 150 mile radius). So, if anyone is looking for a set of Revos that are either plus or minus a 1/2 step, give Fleet Farm a call. You might just luck out...

So you got your tires for $100 each, how much did you pay for shipping, mount and balance? Im surprised Discount didn't work with you, I bargained with those SOB's till I was happy.

Since Fleet Farm is a local dealer, I'm able to have then installed on-site. My appointment is tomorrow and if I'm not mistaken, Fleet charges $9.40 per tire to mount/balance and charges an additional $1.50 to dispose of the old tires.

Grand total, with tax and installation, is roughly $465.

Still trying to determine if the $75 Bridgestone rebate applies to this purchase. If so, tire for less than $400.

Thats not a bad deal at all, thats a better deal than I got on my yokohama's.

With the money you've saved, you could have a shop with a scanner adjust your computer to the new diameter tires.
