Anyone have a 3.4v6 w/SuperCharger?

I have a 2002 Runner with 3.4 v6. I love it to death, but the lack of power is killing me. I know it's not supposed to be fast, but I would like a little more HP. I have 37k miles, and prob get around 18 mpg. I am wondering if a supercharger makes a small difference, or a world of differnence. Would I loose fuel economy? What should I shop for, 7th injector kit? I don't do much towing, but I used to. Just looking to liven up the old Runner.

Any Advice would be great.

havent driven one with a s/c but I've heard it's a BIG difference.....I thought about getting one but decided not to.....although its a "bolt-on" deal, there's too much involved in getting it tuned right (IMO) and with price of premium nowadays ....im betting you'd lose some mpgs (due to a new heavy foot) but i'd bet there'd be a big smile while stomping on it

Aw, I forgot about having to buy premium if I got a s/c.

You think it's a problem to get it tuned right if Toyota installs it? Because I'm seriously considering getting one.

I've heard some folks have no pinging while some do, due to "leaning out"....(hence the "need" for upgraded fuel mods) BUT I've also read some have NO issues at all.......altho, some will say there's a need to upgrade the valve body also.....i think if you dont drive it hard all the time, it should be fine, the s/c is afterall an approved toyota part........for me, i decided not to get it cause i didnt want to introduce pinging or anything other issue that would require tweaking to correct an otherwise perfect engine ...just my .02

i've just recently installed a supercharger. maybe a month or two ago. i didnt have a pinging problem, but i did have the high rpm lean out problem. trd suspects its from the K&N FIPK i have also, so i took that out, and everything seems to eb fine now.

its so much fun to drive!..

So adding an FIPK may not go well with a S/C or will it work fine with other modifications?

I choose vehicles with above average resale values, such as the 4runner. I keep them in excellent condtion, in hopes to make a quick sale when the time comes.

Would the addition of a S/C add value or reduce value? Would it be a harder sell to the average person who may think it will cause problems down the road?

I realize I may never get the money from the S/C back, but don't want to hurt the resale value as well.

I only had problems with the FIPK when i installed my s/c...before that, when it was my only mod, it worked perfectly, no problems at all. i dont know of any other problems it has with other mods. i havent come across any mention of problems after searching the forum.

i definately dont think a s/c would hurt the resale value of your car. you're probably not going to get much added value for it. but not lose any either.

the cost to install a s/c can vary. if you feel confident enough to do it yourself, it can cost nothing...me on the other hand.....a technical retard....had to have the dealership install it...and they charged me for 8 hours of work....i'm sure they didnt spend 8 hours on it...but oh well....i wanted it done right.....so 8hours...at about $75 bucks an hour....(canadian)....
