My sons transmission was rebuilt and then the transfer case was rebuilt too, and 1 day later had the same issues, now I am being told that the truck was a lemon, someone did work on it before and the casing has a crack, now hes telling me I need a whole new casing or something
I am so ticked off. Just curious to see if you found one, and also what happen to yours? oh and its a 1993 4X4 with automatic

I bought mine from a vehicle that had rolled. I have a friend that works for an insurance company and he can get the parts from totalled cars/trucks. There's a great place that sells transmissions. I can't remember the name but i will look for it and let you know. What they will do is drop-ship the transmission to the shop of tour choice. The install shouldn't run you more than 250 dollars for that year. If they charge you more than that walk away. That is the prime reason I don't let people mess with my transmission. It is way to complicated for someone to go around poking around in and then sealing back up. Think of it this way, would you rather have a new heart or have some surgeon go in and try to rebuild everything? Also, any mechanic should have been able to identify previous repairs and a casing crack. All you have to do is add phosphorlescent dye to the transmission fluid and hold a black light over the casing and you will see that it is cracked. Mine I had rebuilt once because I was not intelligent enough and I listened to my friend who said it was cheaper. Ok, enough of my preaching I will try my best to find that site for the transmission company.

Bridgette, I could have sworn I advised you not to get either the transmission or the xfer case rebuilt...

I'm really sorry for your situation. I had basically the same situation once myself. Try that Phoenix hard parts place they really are great and have very fair prices...

I just grabbed the motor out of a 91 SR5 auto in the junkyard, the tranny is just sitting there, i can grab it if you are still interested. The truck was in a front end crash, and had 162,XXX miles on it.
