Anyone have expreicne replacing upper control arm bushings?

Just looking for some info of where to get them? I have to replace them as i brake the uca's clunk back and forth. Bushings are shot. Tie rods and ball joints are still rock solid. Don't really want to replace those yet. Oem Toyota parts are better then anything U can buy aftermarket. And a new set from Toyota is crazy $.
Just looking for any helpful info. 2004 Toyota 4 runner sport 4.7 v8 134,000 miles.

I would love too go that rout, but the ball joints are exposed and the harsh salted roads in winter will destroy them. I am figuring to replace them with brand new ones from Toyota and put a Toyota tech lift on it in the process. What an annoying sound!

If you're putting a lift on, you should really consider aftermarket UCA's to help get your alignment back into spec after the lift. There are other options that don't have an exposed ball. Check out SPC/Light Racing UCA's.

With stock Toyota control arms, you might have difficulty getting the caster back into spec and handling may suffer.

If you buy the Camburg upper arms you have the option of either getting it and reusing your balljoints or with a uniball like you see above. The uniball will hold up to the salt in winter no problem and they are stronger then the stock ball joints.

clunk could also come from lower control arms. i also have Tc Uppers and still get a clunk on hard brakes

Energysuspension makes polyeurathane uca bushings, tbey will be stiffer than the toyota rubber bushings.

I'll second this. Check the lca bushings as my clunking stopped after I replaced them with poly ones. There are a few writeups on the bushing replacement for the lowers.

The upper replacement should be similar if not easier. If you're doing a lift just get light racing UCAs and call it a day.
