Anyone have mod suggestions for a new owner?

New owner - need some initial mod suggestions

My '03 V6 Limited 4Runner will be delivered tonight. I found one with 14k miles on it for a great price.

I am looking for suggestions on some simple and/or important mods. I am thinking of getting rubber mats, probably the Catch-All Xtremes based on suggestions in other threads.

I also heard something about changing the air filter

The truck currently has the Dunlop stock tires, should I change them?

Are there any other mods that you guys suggest to improve performance, gas mileage, looks etc.? I am a mechanical engineer by training so please don't spare the technical details.
If there are already good threads on certain mods then feel free to post the links.

Is your truck to be a garage queen or an off-road warrior?

Starting out as a garage queen and commuting car...becoming more of an offroad warrior as the vehicle gets older but it is unlikely that I'll ever get it into serious offroad conditions.

Basically I am more interested in fuel economy mods and mods that will improve on road performance especially in the winter in New England.

I was not getting any response in the general discussion board, so I posted here.

1st mod I did was window tint - but it's a must down here. Then I got a spacer lift and yanked off the running boards - mostly just for looks but I do take a few trips to the Mt's each year and drive on the beach now and then. Put on some bigger tires. Nothing hard core but that's what the KTM is for. I did the lower back light mod - they are just reflectors but are designed to hold a bulb. Hyper inexpensive - just the cost of bulbs and some time. Had a lady in a new runner ask how I got them to "light up" the other day in traffic. I add a FlowMaster muffler, cut out the resonator and add a slash cut tip out to the side. I did add a spoiler from spoilerdepot.com. I also put a huge set of lights on the bumper. Nothing special just bolted them down with a backing plate.

Sounds like alot but I wanted to make it mine and stand out a bit. No mods in the past year - got it just how I like it now.

I had similar intentions as Colemanfu...I wanted mine to stand out a bit. I see 4Runners all over the place now, and I hate that mine looked just like theirs (especially when the soccer mom's driving it). I've had my 4R for a bit over a month, but this is what I've done so far - in chronological order (don't expect it to be anywhere near what Colemanfu has)

-Eclipse AVN 5495 (Audio/Video/Navigation)
-Wind deflector for the moonroof
-Replaced the low beams bulbs with Silvania Silverstars
-Replaced the fogs bulbs for PIAA Xtreme (don't ask me why)
-Jaos Center Protector
-BattleZ exhaust (getting a bit louder with each passing day)

Future plans:
-Rear lower lights (instructions in another thread)
-A rear skid bar (Jaos doesn't make them for the 4Runner yet)
-A front skid plate
-Other mods I've read about in this forum (still building a list)

I'll tell you. You've come to the right place. I'm new here myself, and as I started reading all the postings, I knew there were some real 4R lovers here. So many great mods that'll make your's stand out in a crowd.
