Anyone here ever live in a T4R? Or spent a long time besides camping>?

Just ran into a video on youtube about people living in cars and jeeps didnt find any T4R. Ive watched this guy Adam The Woo he lived in his van many years.

So whats the longest anyone has lived or stayed on a T4R?

Thankfully, I've never had to live in any of my vehicles (I came close a couple times though). However, if a certain presidential candidate gets elected, I'll probably be living in mine.

I think everyone here is sane enough to know that you can't live in a 4Runner.

I'm pretty sure that guy living in a van down by the river was just a skit.

I've lived out of my 4Runner for up to a week at a time while driving across the country. My dog and I will drive and sightsee all day and then pull into a rest area or a walmart parking lot (both have bathroom facilities) and sleep for the night; rinse and repeat. It's not ideal of course, but saves on $$$ and the hassle of finding pet-friendly hotels on short notice. Removing the rear lower seat gives me enough room to sleep in the back on top of my backpacking mat, and the dog has his travel bed (which has also been my pillow on occasion). Two notable upgrades would be to have bug netting of some sort for the windows, and blinds (Walmart parking lots are actually quite bright).

Of course you can live out of a 4runner. Why wouldn't you be able to? Try using Google and do some research. There are people that live out of vehicles a lot smaller than a 4runner... For years at a time. Join a gym for the shower, and working out if that's your thing,Open a PO Box for mail and use a friend or parents with a residency for anything that needs a physical address, hit the free wifi Hotspots around town for Internet on your laptop (or pay for satellite Internet), go out to eat, use a laundromat, etc., etc. Hell for most of us we are at work 8-10 hours or more a day so there isn't a lot of free time you gotta fill in after you factor in sleep.

You can definitely make this happen, just have to be willing to sacrifice a few things.

Ive camped for multiple one week stretches at a time inside the 4r. I'm 6'4 and was plenty comfortable with my foam matress set up. I could see camping in it for a month or more as long as the views and trails are good.

The overlanding culture will have many tips on spending months/years in a vehicle.
I recently read up on a fellow who spent a year in a Prius. It can be done if you're willing.

I slept in my 84 4r for about 3 months. I was living(camping) out in the sticks building an extension to an existing cabin for my friends. For the first 3 months I slept on a self-inflating mattress w/ sleeping bag beside the fire. No tent, no swag. Directly under the stars
It was about then that I actually bought my 4R and decided to sleep in her instead
One of the best periods of my life. I'll add some photo's once I've figured out how to host them.

My longest trip was a 6-week, 44-night outing. I've done a few 3-week trips and numerous ones 2 weeks and shorter. I'm currently at 660 nights slept in my 2002 4Runner Lodge, with another ~17 coming up starting next week. So many great trips and memories, but I would definitely need a trailer, at the minimum, if that ever became a full-time venture.

They left mid-August and plan to be back in the USA around April.

No, he hasn't been active much on the forum, but I started a thread here http://www.toyota-4runner.org/general-discussions/224937-overlanding-patagonia.html, and it has a links to the social media pages that they are posting info.

Now, since they're out on the road with little to no wifi, they try to post updates periodically when they can.

The downfall to going to remote areas is that wifi doesn't follow. But the views and places they've posted pictures about have been really cool!
