Anyone here ever live in a T4R? Or spent a long time besides camping>?

Ive camped for multiple one week stretches at a time inside the 4r. I'm 6'4 and was plenty comfortable with my foam matress set up. I could see camping in it for a month or more as long as the views and trails are good.

I'm a bit taller than you, I know one person already asked but any info on how you made that work would be appreciated.

I think it could work if I slide the two front seats forward, slide the 2nd row forward, and then use a mattress (so I don't fall in the gap between the folded 3rd row and slid forward 2nd row) but I'm unsure what kind of mattress to get.

I think with that, screens, and a roof rack one could camp in a T4R for quite a while.

My setup is super simple. Just a thick foam matress (8 inches). I only have a second row of seats and fold that forward. Also I have the slide out tray in the back that levels the area. Just throw the matress in there and im done. I do sleep with head elevated a little bit and my feet touch the hatch. But its plenty comfortable for me. Would be even better if I took out the bottom of the rear seats and moved the front seats forward. That would make my matress extend fully. The matress is 6'4".

I am thinking of getting a RTT just to make more room in the back for camping. Right now the matress set up only really works for solo trips so I can store all of my supplies in the passenger seat and some shoved under the matress/on the roof. If I get a hitch mounted winch soon I will need more space in the back.

My wife and I will be doing a 3 month road trip in my 3rd gen in a couple years. Currently just figuring out the trip, saving for it and getting the 4r prepped. I will be building a sleeping platform in it and already have a 6" mattress, 3" of latex and 3" of foam. (I work at a mattress factory and we make a lot of custom mattresses for people so I was able to make mine for free with scrap foams and returns that we got.) We will be starting from Bozeman mt where we live and going over to the west coast, all the way down to Cali and the coming back up one state over while hitting every national park that we can/want to.

good to know. i'm 6'5 and want to build a sleeping platform in the back of my 4th gen. my wife and i are planning a 2-month visit-out-of-state-friends and national park tour next summer and don't want to spend every night in a hotel. i'll probably remove the second row seats and build the platform with a hinged section that folds out when the front seats are scooted all the way forward.
