Anyone in CA with a y-pipe or cat-delete?

Hey guys I've been wanting to install a y-pipe on my 06 V6 for some performance and sound gains but am worried it won't pass smog since I am, in fact, getting rid of emissions related things being 2 of the 4 cats. Has anyone, in California, gotten away with it?

I wish I could help, but I live in OH and the state and federal government have seen fit to chemically nuke us, so...safe to say we don't have emissions tests in my county. There are only a handful that require them in OH.

you wont pass the visual part, unless you know the smog guy, either way you end up paying double, let say you pay 200 for the registration, you'll end up paying that to the smog guy also to pass you.

you can also remove and reinstall every time you need to smog your vehicle.
i do it all the time with the AFE intake.

I thought about that but a guy I watched install one on his 4r, it seemed to be fairly difficult and not practical to uninstall and reinstall for smogs. But at the same time its every two years so it wouldn't be terrible. Then again I would have to keep the old one so theres pros and cons.

You might not have to worry. The smog guy would only know you added the y pipe is if he or she knows the 4runner has 4 cats.

BTW, the install is not hard at all.

There's no way you'll pass the visual. My smog guy failed me for a throttle body spacer that I didn't even know I had.
