Anyone in CO wanna check out a 4Runner?

I found this little gem in Denver:

2002 BLACK 4RUNNER SPORT 4X4

I would be on a plane this weekend to Colorado, but $13K is crazy high. If anyone is in the area and feels like taking a look, it would be much appreciated.

CO 4Runners sell pretty high, but that is a bit too high.

Judging by the Dealer being on Colfax, the price of the Runner is probably the same price as their monthly rent, or higher.

That's borderline ridiculous! You guys pay "Toyota Tax" there as well?

Do you think it's even worth calling them up then?

Looks like it might have had some front end damage judging by the way the flare extension on the front bumper doesn't line up.

Regardless... for that amount just go buy 2 3rd gens somewhere else.

That dealer specializes in 4Runners and they are consistently very pricey. They do seem to get an inventory of what appears to be nice, clean 3rd generation 4Runners. Personally, I wouldn't want to deal with any dealership that is based along Colfax as that strip is "sketchy" at best. I'd rather keep looking for something offered by owner. My 2 cents.

CarFax says it's from Illinois, and you can see a little evidence of rust in the engine compartment. 3 owners too, so not worth any "Colorado" premium.

I have sometimes had luck getting dealers who try to get these kind of prices to come down quite a bit. I usually tell them I'm not willing to pay more than I can insure it for. Some of them will just sit on the car until someone comes along who is willing to fork over their price, others want to move them and will negotiate. Depends on their business plan/strategy.

I have access to view manheim auto auction company through a friend. I've looked high and low at the resale market for the 4runners. Twice I've seen a specific 4runner listed at auction for half the price that the dealer was currently selling it for in denver. Meaning I could have purchased it over the internet sight unseen for half what the dealer had it listed on Craigslist for. I still can do that but there is no guarantee on the vehicles sold this wAy under about $8000 it seems. They don't offer the inspections and thorough background history....currently there are many in various places under $5000 that would be viable options that have miles under 150k. Just a tidbit as for dealer pricing on vehicles in this era..they don't want them on the lot.

Black '02 Sport Runners are hard to come by with low mileage like that. You might see 2 pop up in the Northwest annually, but they disappear instantly. I think realistically though I'm gonna have to travel out of state if I'm going to find one anytime soon.

I see a ton of clean ones in general (not necessarily black) around still, so might be worth keeping an eye on the denver craigslist. Our climate keeps them more rust free than most.

I'm in the same boat. When I bought my current 4runner (about a year ago) I flew out to Oklahoma City when I found the one I wanted. The dealership was very helpful, they sent me tons of pics. I wanted a black, rust free 4runner with around 100k miles. (I bought it with 102k). You'll find one. I'd say contact the dealer and see if they'd be willing to come down in price. If they'd come down to $9500-10k it might be worth it for you. But you're the only one that will be able to decide that.
