Anyone in/near Roanoke?

What's up guys! Bought my 4runner about a year ago, but just started getting the MOD bug and making some changes. Just trying to find some other guys around to wheel with. I def don't have a built rock crawling rig, but my shiny new Duratracs haven't even been off the pavement yet! Please help me! I know there is a pretty good offroad scene around here, but I am beginning to think its all rock crawling beater jeeps. That is cool and all....and I would love to ride along and bang round on the rocks in your rig...haha...but not mine. This is my family SUV and DD. Please let me know if there are any quick spots that i can sneek off to on a saturday afternoon to flex and get a little dirty!

I'm about 30 minutes from Edinburg. Peters mill is what I'm thinking you're referring to. I would like to do a day trip there but I am new to the 4Runner scene and the off road stuff also. I'm looking for someone to go with to give me pointers on gear to get and what not so i can feel comfortable going by myself on my days off. maybe we can meet up this summer and hit that trail. I also heard it kind of a beginners trail so a stock vehicle like mine should have no problem. look forward to hearing from you.

Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about. Peters mill is a perfect run to learn on and your stock T4R will do just fine. You're best bet would be to just pick a date and start a thread and invite other members. Since I've been a couple times, I would be happy to arrange it and provide the details. Feel free to PM me and we can figure out a date that works.

I'm itching to test out my KMs on some rocks! My Jeep buddy let me know they're hitting GWNF trails on the 29th. Just pick a date and I'll make time to go! :hungry:
 
It's difficult to figure out a good time for me set a date. I work sunday monday tuesday night and every other saturday night plus I also try to pick up as much OT as I can. Another question is my tires are going to need to be replaced before winter and there's just enough tread on them to get me there. Will less than 25% tread tires be ok to wheel there? Trying to save $ to get a new set hence the OT. Thanks for responding.
 
Man, I started this thread and forgot all about it. Seems like the general consensus I am getting from this forum and others is that GWNF is going to be the best bet. Now the question is a date/time....now that's a tough one for me as I'm sure it is for most. My wife and I are scheduled to have our baby son delivered next Tueday.... So that alone puts me out of commission for a little while. On top of that, we are going to Hilton Head, SC for our family vacation the first week of June....after that I am pretty free though. Maybe a Saturday or Sunday trip late June, early July? I can't promise with a newborn and a 3 year old running around that my availability won't change....so if someone can commit, pick this thread up or start a new one and run with it. This whole section was pretty slow, glad to see some interest!

Yeah I'm happy to see there a few of us interested. There isn't EVER talk on here about people getting together in our area. I'm open to anything I could prob take a Sat off of work but Sunday is always my best bet
 
Check out the 5th gen page guys. We have our annual meet and greet in October. Last year we had like 26 5th gens and a 4th or 2 and even a couple non-4runners. The wheeling isn't too extreme, but its a good time. I am going and hopefully another 5th gen or 2 from the area.
