Just bought my first 4Runner 2004 sr5 v6.. Love it! A couple things I am curious about and want the advice of a T4R owner. I got a pretty good deal on the thing with 114k on it from a trusted dealer which i have bought a few cars from in the past.
1st thing is I need to get a break job, any recommendation as to rotors and pads?
2nd, and I have read up on this as well as had a close friend who is a certified porsche mechanic take a look and drive and he didnt notice anything out of the ordinary but I tend to over listen and analyze when it comes to my cars, When i purchased I had new tires put on ( bf goodrich rugged terrains) as well as had the tranny flushed because I thought it looked a bit dark, not dirty but more purple than anything. kind of wish I wouldn't have because it was shifting perfectly fine and ever since have noticed a subtle whine above 2000rpms and at free way speed while foot is on the gas. Again shifts fine and mechanic friend didnt think it sounded out of the ordinary. Just curious if it is a common sound. also had the drive shaft re greased , but still same noise..
3. Upon looking at the cv boots, looks like i need to replace both sides. Anyone know what this runs?
In a perfect world i could find someone on here that lives in the area and enjoys working on their t4r and has the knowledge and skill to do so and i could work with that person or provide them with side jobs if interested. so yeah, first post , thats my story…
