Anyone interested in trail riding in South Texas?

Came across Hidden Falls Adventure Park right outside Marble Falls. Was doing some research, saw that it’s a pretty sweet trail. Have you ever been?
Yep! HF is only about 45 mins from me. Cool place for sure!!
There's a "hill country tour" route thats floating around t4r and overland bound forums, supposedly cool. Just dirt roads with a few creek crossings, but it seemed cool when I looked it up. Anything up in the hill country is difficult because of how much private closed off roads there are out there, so this route seems valuable.
My wife and I have also been doing some research on the different areas in Sam Houston national forest that allow dispersed camping. Supposedly all dirt roads back through that forest system, and from my research its not heavily used and decently remote. Better than a state park anyway.
Just some options for some trail riding, those are both stretches for day trips though. I don't have strong opinions or any experience with exactly how "cool" and fun those areas are, but we're going to do weekend trips in both areas over the next couple of months to check them out further. If we find some cool stuff, I'm totally doing gpx files of the routes and will share them.

I actually saw that exact trail last night, Ben. The Overland one up by Fredericksburg and Mason, right? Thought about trying that out but wanted to check out Hidden Falls as well.

Yeah man, that's the one. I'll let you know once we plan something. We've got reservations at Lost Maples SP mid July, but we're probably going to do a day or 1 day/1night trip between now and then.

Honestly, this seems like one of the most legit, dirt road "adventures" we have access to in central texas, outside of Big Bend NP, or Big Bend Ranch SP. Its obviously very mild compared to the BLM and public access 4x4 land out west, but we're all in TX, and we got to make do with what God gave us out here right?!
As an aside, if any of you guys haven't checked out the Overland Bound community/forum, do so. Its cool. I like their youtube videos, seems like they do a good job of pushing responsible land use and recreation, and they have some good resources. Again, TX is a bit of a desert for overlanding resources compared to most western states, we need all the resources we can get. I'm on that forum as well, same handle as here.
I've been skeptical of offroad parks since went to one in the middle of nowhere in Alabama. It was a disappointing combo of tiny mud holes that were the "easy trails" and boulder gardens that were dominated by offroad buggies and built rock crawlers. It wasn't fun.
BUT. Those pics make hidden falls look very different. I'm putting that on the list for this year now. Thanks for sharing [MENTION=85504]raygenjay[/MENTION]!

Lol. Do you know of anything around the border or just south of the border that’s good? I would totally drive down there if there’s any good exploring/off-road access areas. Only thing I know of south of the border is Baja though. And that’s not south of Texas lol. That’s a ways.

I'm south of Houston about 40 min near the gulf, so no idea lol. All that is around me is the beach and a few trails near the water.

Yeah. I mean, I may just be thinking like a dumb American tourist, but is Mexico really that bad or dangerous? I’ve literally been in rural Haiti during political riots after an election. I’ve yet to ever think “this is as bad as people said it would be”.
Then again. I’ve never been to Mexico. Maybe I’m just being a dumb American tourist lol shrugs

Another vote for Hidden Falls. Kickass place to wheel. Took the 96 on some level 5 trails with a group of jeep buddies I have. She did awesome on them. I'll be in Austin for work for about 2 weeks with only Sundays off but maybe we could all meet one Sunday over there? I would love to meet some of yall
I’d have to check with the wife, assuming we didn’t have plans that weekend I would def be down for hidden falls as a day trip. Still on street tires and no lift or armor, so I’d have to stick to the easy stuff, but I’m down to push it a little.
Worst case I slit open one of my tires on rocks then I’ll just have to spring for the st maxx’s or ko2’s I’m eventually going to upgrade too. I wouldn’t be sad about that.
