anyone near vista ca want to help a newb replace a starter

I have a good friend, he actually married my wife and I, in vista ca and he's REAL green to working on vehicles...he has a 98 4runner v6 and the starter is going out on him. I would love to help him but I live in idaho now. If anyone feels comfortable with this or if there is any wrenching parties planned near vista please let me know or I can give you his number.

Starter is a good place to start out... If he has a basic mechanics tool set, I'd just link him to a nice write up.

If hitting it with a hammer doesn't work and replacing the contacts doesn't work then he can always do what I did and replace the whole starter.

the most important tool here is half inch socket set with extensions and a u joint, you cant get at the bolt without it, so go to wherever is open and get one if you need it.
