Anyone recognize this thing?

This piece of ductwork or shielding or ??? was in the glove box of my 96 sr5 when I got it.

I have looked around somewhat, but so far I can not find where this might belong. I wonder if it in fact belongs to this vehicle at all?

Anyone recognize it? Truck is 96 4runner sr5, 3.4L, 4wd, manual trans, rear heat controls. Forgot to include something for scale, it's only about 6 or 7 inches long.

Definitely some part of the HVAC system judging by the plastic used, dirt on it, and the foam isolators on the edges. Almost everything OEM toyota has a molded part number on it, should be "12345-12345" any chance you can find that on it? If so I can find exactly where it goes, what it does, and what Toyota calls it.

It's unlikely, but there is a part that looks exactly like that in the rear hatch. It holds up some of the wiring from touching the window I believe. I just replaced my hatch wiring harness and remember seeing something similar to that.

That is definitely from the rear hatch. I had my rear hatch torn apart to replace my license plate bulbs with completely ruined screws that I could not get out. I cannot remember where it exactly goes but I do remember I couldn't get it back in so its sitting in my garage....

Glad I'm not the only one! Definitely from the hatch. I had a rattle in the hatch. When I took it apart I found this sitting at the bottom. If someone knows where and how to put it back, that'd be awesome.

I can't check for part numbers right now because it's in the truck and that is off at the alignment shop today.

hmm... ive heard a rattling back there also, haven't really had time to look into it.

How do I get the panel for the rear hatch off? just pull off?

It's from the rear hatch as others have said. It goes over the latch mechanism.
