Anyone replaced Rear Carpet in 5th Gen?

Recently bought a 15 4Runner. Previous owner apparently dumped beach or play sand in the back. I spent an hour back there with an air nozzle and shop vac. Made little headway.

Any of you replaced rear carpet? No package tray or 3rd row seats. Wondering how hard is it?

Very easy to remove the carpet. Pull it out, hang it, beat and or wash the sand out of it, put it back in. Not worth replacing something that can be cleaned up in a couple hours.

I see how the back come loose. Do I remove the "bar looking piece to get the front part free?

You have to remove the lowest panel just behind the back seat, 2 10mm bolts inside the cups that the metal hooks are in. You also have to remove the plastic sill all the way to the back which just unclips.

Does anyone know where I could get a good price on a replacement cargo carpet?
MY 4Runner's trunk has water damage that no amount of cleaning will fix, and I'm sure the carpet/soundproof pad needs to be replaced. I think the styrofoam can be saved. I am looking online and am having a hard time finding a good price. I have a 2013 4Runner Limited, and there is no slide-out tray or third-row seat.

Look up T-SB-0094-21 "Odor Remediation After Water Intrusion". It has instructions on how to deal with wet carpets, wet sound deadening pads, sub floor, etc.

you could order the carpet new from the dealer. probably about $1000 maybe less in USA. you could go aftermarket and require some trimming to make it fit perfectly. it's going to be hard to find something for a good price if you don't want to buy new...

if it's the entire carpet I would pull it up and remove (pull off) the jute backing, the spongy stuff that absorbs mass amounts of water and will mold/rot. the backing of the carpet is actually hard and the top layer where your mats rest on is easy to dry and disinfect. you do not need to remove the seats to do this , just pull up from the sills. I would not save any styrofoam, just remove it

you can use concrobium spray as well to disinfect and prevent mold. clean the body floor beneath the carpet. just exactly how bad are we talking here?
