Anyone running a Yellowtop D27F?

After 9 years, my panasonic is finally starting to struggle. I'm not dead set on an Optima but I've heard good things. Amazon has the D27F for <$200 shipped right now which is a great deal from what I've found. Locally, everyone is recommending Northstar batteries but they're new to me and super expensive. I've searched and most of the threads were several years old. Anyone have any input?

I had an optima once, never again. When they go dead they go dead. Won't take any kind of charge at all. Which means you can't even jump start them. I'd avoid. Go with interstate.

I ran a red top and after parked over the winter it was completely dead. Charged it up lasted another year. We run yellow tops at the post office (1000 trucks in our fleet) and charge dead ones all the time. Biggest problem with completely dead batteries is some chargers won't charge them. Interstate is also a good battery and they offer dry cells as well.

I use a yellow top in my '86 and love it.

As alluded to the yellow tops are meant to be ran down and charged without hurting them.

This is handy for my 1st gen because it often goes months without me driving it. Also, good if you sometimes listen to the radio a little too long when out camping.

would that work for a v6? just found the specs and it's an inch longer and an inch taller. Think it'll fit?

Recently went with a yellowtop after my panasonic went under. No problems as of yet. I believe its a d35 because nowhere locally carried the d27f.

^I believe the dihard mentioned above does fit....snuggly, but fits if I'm not mistaken

If you do enough searching, you will find bad reviews of every battery out there, including the beloved die hard platinums.

I have a red top and yellow top that have run without missing a beat for 3+ years. I've had a sears die hard platinum die on me in 6 months, I swapped it out with a yellow top (that was in there before the die hard) and it's been there for 2 years without an issue.

After spending too much money on batteries, my next will be the biggest, cheapest wet acid battery I can find.

I wish we could get the Panasonics that our Toyota trucks came with. I've seen one last 11 years on my 4Runner and another last 14 years in my Land Cruiser.

I had a "red top" Optima and it died within a year. I have had the "yellow top" for about 4 years,...so far, so good. The yellow tops are a deep cycle battery, and can be recharged if you run them down, the red tops, not.
