Anyone switched VSS on 4th Gen Nav

Has anyone installed a disconnect switch on the speed sensor circuit to try and temporarily bypass the nav lockouts while moving?

i tried just cutting my speed sensor, still didn't let you input directions, and the nav didn't work too well either. I have an 2004 model though that is Toyota but did not come from the factory, I installed it myself from eBay.

Why don't you do it manually buy using the software temporary bypass precedure:

Press the MENU button.

Touch VOLUME tab.

Touch the upper left corner of the screen then the left lower corner of the screen 2 times within 3 seconds.

This displays a new menu. From this menu touch and hold the OVERRIDE tab for approx 3 seconds when it beeps to confirm activation.

Touch OK a couple of time to back out of the display.

All the normally grayed out controls while driving are now functional.

You will have to go through this procedure each time you start the truck since it resets once the truck is turned off.

Hope this helps. This procedure was on this forum awhile back, but may be hard to find.

I use it all the time.
