Anyone tow a trailer with a 3rd gen T4R?

I just hooked up my new Karavan boat trailer to the factory trailer light harness and when signaling for a turn both of the trailer's directional lights blink at the same time.

I hooked the trailer up to a Ford Explorer and they work properly so the problem must to be with the Toyota.

Anyone?

I had a similar problem with my 4R....couldn't figure out where the problem was so I pulled the whole wiring assembly and just installed a new one. Picked it up at TSC for 38 bucks. Works perfect now!

Are you saying you pulled the whole FACTORY TRAILER wiring assembly and installed the new one?

What's a TSC?

It could be a possible bad ground, or that little module in the rear panel has gone bad.

Curious as to how a bad ground would cause them both to blink, wouldn't it prevent either from blinking/

TSC is Tractor supply company. got a lot of good hardware and wiring stuff there.

Yep....removed the whole wiring assembly. To install a new one all you have to do is remove both tail light and then you just plug the new set up in and you are in business!:awais:

Thanks, that may be the last resort. My local trailering place also suggested it may be a bad ground to the factory plug, will check that first.

had the same problem a couple months ago on two seperate trailers. one was a crappy uhaul vehicle tow dolly that we ended up trashing anyway (woohoo for $6 insurance!) but the uhaul was a piece itself so you never know, but then the next one was on a 20 foot box car hauler, the wiring assembly on the trailer worked but when attached to the 4R the trailer brakes would lock whenever you used the turn signals or braked.. but i had towed that trailer about 8 months before and it worked fine. i would really like to know what works for you short of pulling the factory assembly, i cant figure mine out with these inconsistent problems.

I've checked the ground, in fact I took the ground wire from the trucks plug and went directly to the frame, no difference.

I'll be getting a new converter and hope that's it.

FYI, it was the converter.

I bought a T-One setup, easier to plug that in than re-wireIJust plugged it in and all is well.
