Anyone upgraded speakers while using factory JBL?

I was wondering if anyone has upgraded to aftermarket speakers while maintaining the factory JBL headunit and amp and if it resulted in improved sound? Also what speakers are you using and what ohm? I believe someone posted a long time ago that his factory speakers were 2.9 ohms for front and 2.6 ohms for rear. I know changing to aftermarket HU and amp would result in better sound, but I don't want to do all that, especially since I have NAV. I just want to keep it easy and simple with only changing speakers. I like Infinity's and I know a lot of people have used them with aftermarket amps for better sound, but not sure if get better sound with factory HU and amp.

Since I upgraded all the speakers first before starting on the HU/amp, I took opportunity to try the setup with only new speakers. It's a HUGE improvement and definitely worth the time and effort. Clarity at higher volumes is much improved and controlled. There is more definition to music.

About the only thing I would do differently from my setup is to focus on front components that have high sensitivity. Also, don't bother overbuying since higher end components tend to need more power. The stock setup is crossed over pretty high for the fronts so too much driver won't buy you more midbass.
