Anyone upgraded their brakes?

I don't understand why owners here feel that just because it is a truck it's ok for the brake pedal to feel a certain way. Isn't that why we modify the vehicles, to get more out of it than how it came from the factory.

I put a brake kit on my 4th gen and the brake pedal felt so much better. I know that the stopping distance wasn't going to improve. I do know that the reaction time of the brakes to get to full deceleration g's improved since the components were stiffer.

I work for a performance brake company, and customer demand is what drives what we develop. If the demand is there, someone will fulfill it.

It has a lot to do with how trucks were historically used for towing. Part of the purpose of a longer travel more linear brake application is to allow your trailer brakes to engage and gain in balance with the tow vehicle. Touchy or quicker reacting brake pedal - like you might get from different components - is very easy for Toyota to do. It's just a matter of adjusting a few lines of code. It's setup the way it is on purpose. It's just that many users want it to feel like a sports car in part because they have no intention of using it as a truck. Nothing wrong with that. But customers should be aware that they are making towing with trailer brakes a lot more difficult to setup and get to work properly.
