Anyone use a Supra MAF???

Has anyone used one? I have read a few locals around me are using them. Are they bigger? Will it change fuel curve ect????

i've heard of people using them on solaras, camry and avalons but never on 4runners

They are a popular upgrade for the 22RTE (turbo motors). They are usually installed along with larger fuel injectors. I believe that the 1986 and 1987 supra MAF is the one that the turbo guys go for. For more info search around on htp://22rte-trucks.com

I have also heard of folks using a 2.7 liter tacoma MAF for the 22RE as a performance upgrade. This MAF uses a heated wire that gets cooled from airflow instead of the flapper style meters from the older 22RE.

So on a non turbo 22re, tha maf should be from a non turbo supra? I'll check out that site and see what I can find. Seems like it could be a good cheap mod.

I am not really sure about that, I would assume you wouldn't want the turbo AFM but I do not know if there are any fitment issues/harness wiring that are specific to using a turbo unit in place of a N/A unit. The non turbo unit should really be all you need to help add and meter more air to your intake. If I were you I would look into the late model Tacoma MAF as the techonolgy for metering the air is much superior and trouble free in relation to the mechanical flapper door type from the 80's and 90's. It will definatly not be the cheaper option when considering the Supra AFM vs. Tacoma MAF.

I had a MAF out of a 1982 Supra on my 1987 4Runner 22RE.

The increase in power/sound was great... The best mod I did to my 87, I think.
