Anyone used Burtman Industries for importing parts?

I bought the OEM trash liner through them, which they're importing from Japan. I placed the order 4 Oct and got the confirmation email from them. But that's it. Zero communication from them. No estimated shipping date. I called and the guy behind the operation (it's apparently not really a business) promptly texted me. He said he'd email his sources in Japan for a status and estimated shipping date. A week goes by and I hear nothing. I reached out to him again, and the same thing happens.

Totally understand overseas shipping takes time, but the lack of any communication, no shipping estimate (even a window), etc strikes me as both extremely unprofessional, and worrisome. Of course my card has already been charged.

Anyone used them? Anything I need to worry about?

And if you've used them for overseas parts, how long did delivery take for you?

If it travels by boat I would say up to 1.5 months for the full process. At least that's how long it takes from China.

He's a guy selling parts to an industry that he loves for not too much profit so yes he'll need lots of slack cut. If you're not happy with the shipping ETA or communication, cancel the order. If it's something you have to have no matter what, then it's worth the wait.

I ordered custom spacers from him. Got the parts within a week of ordering (including the weekend). So I would say, it's probably an issue with shipping from overseas. He also frequents this forum.

Jason is a great guy to deal with. It has to be a shipping issue coming from overseas. I’d definitely continue to reach out if you’re dissatisfied. He’s a great dude, I’ve dealt with him a ton.

Thanks, everyone! My point wasn't to complain. Just to better understand. Appreciate the replies. I'll await delivery patiently for a few more weeks.

Cheers
Dan

For those curious, Burtman Industries failed to deliver in every way on this order.

He sent photos of a trash liner supposedly being custom-built overseas, but that was early this year and nothing ever materialized. No more phone calls, texts, or emails. No updates of any kind. Never once an apology for the hassle or the delays or the lack of communication. And certainly no refunds if he ever even arrived at a point where he realized he couldn't fulfill the order. Of course, I can't cancel the order without him processing it (or responding for that matter), and the order was placed -- and charged to my card -- 10 months ago. Far too long ago for the credit card company to allow a charge to be disputed.

Extraordinarily unprofessional and unethical.

Thanks for the update...I had a feeling he was shady when I reached out about spacers. I saw someone mentioning how he's only doing this for little profit...in other words it's more of a hobby with him helping out others with difficult orders like overseas ones. That's still no excuse to be unprofessional if something like that happened. With me, he was just too brash when I had detailed questions about spacers I was interested in. After reading some of his responses, I decided to stop all communications at that point

Yeah, I cut him a LOT of slack -- hell the order was almost a year ago. I couldn't care less if it's a hobby business and something he's just passionate about. Zero excuse for how he handled this.

It's a trash liner. Not like I would have cared if he had simply said he can't fulfill the order after all and refunded the money.

I just saw this post for the very first time. The issue was handled and made right. I will continue to try and help when I can. Unfortunately quite a few these Japan items are getting discontinued and it's very frustrating. I've gone so far as to now have a local seamstress do these trash bags.

I apologize for any confusion and will do what I can to help in the future with these rare kind of items.

Is it updated on your site? Still says the japan version?
