Anyone using a roof-top tent?

Wondering if anyone is using a RTT on their T4R?
I'm looking at the hard shell Autohome models and wondered how they fit on a 4Runner. Pictures and feedback would be great.

Isnt the weight limit of the roof rack like #200? I dont know about you, but with me there wouldnt be much weight to spare.

The Autohome website talks quite a bit about dynamic vs static loads and how the weight ratings are usually for the dynamic aspect of the roof racks.

Hmmm... Why sleep on roof? Wouldn't it be easier and safer to pitch tent at ground level?

It is much easier to just simply unfold a RTT then pitch a tent and also in my opinion safer since you are up away from any potential problems on the ground (critters, standing water etc...). Although for $1+k I'd rather just camp on the ground

I think roof top tents were invented for camping in places where creatures on the ground really will f you up, like Africa. It looks cool, but I agree, considering the cost I'll sleep in my tent on the ground.

I just take out the back seat bottom cushions, fold the seat backs down in their normal position, and put a twin sized mattress in the back. It just barely fits, and so do I. When going on a solo trip (photography), I also remove the passenger seat (yup, that makes my 4Runner a 1 seater) and put all my supplies (lots of water, food, cooking gear, etc) in the space that is created. It's pretty damn comfortable, and there is no tent required.

I think they look pretty slick, but my dog would never allow it. Plus, taking that middle of the night drunken piss might be a little difficult with one of those. :
