Anyone using higher WATTAGE bulbs?

My '08 Sport calls for an H11 low beam bulb. I've been looking at a 5000K bulb (I don't care to go any higher in temp) but the bulb is RATED at 80 watts. This is an actual wattage (Nokya Cosmic White).

The stock bulbs are 55 watts and the housing on the '08 is that weird "bubble" inside the housing. Is anyone using a higher wattage bulb? Any issues?

Not a smart idea, guys have melted their wiring harness with 80w bulbs.

Stay at 55w or just get an HID kit if you want really impressive light output. They fire up with higher than 55w (which is why they are run to the battery) but run at a lower wattage, around 35w.

The fact that HID's are run to the battery for the higher than stock wattage is a good indicator that you shouldn't go over 55w without some sort of relay for another source of power.

That's pretty much what I suspected. I've been holding off for the H11 Silverstar Ultras for my low beams (don't go there. I've been a big fan of the Silverstars for about 8 years now) which I've been told should be available in the near future. I'm not an HID fan. Call me old fashioned...

hoen-usa makes a nice H11 55w that I'm running on my 08. Nice and white; put them in all the fronts.

I just went to the HOEN website. Of the 3 headlight lamps they make, only 1 is 55W (3700K). The other 2 are 70w (4300K) and 80w (4000K). Of course, they show the 55W out of stock. I'll continue looking. Thanks.

The Hoen Xenonmatch Factory Wattage H11 55w are in stock and 4000K. These are what I have in low beams. Nice white like xenon that I had in my TL. They are found under the Xenonmatch FOG light link.

I was looking at those yesterday and assumed they would fit the bill for what I'm looking for. Thanks for the confirmation. I just ordered a pair of the H11's.
