Hello,
I just bought an 06 4runner Sport ED with JBL in Dash 6CD Chgr and want to use my ipods with the stock sound system. I have done some looking through previous threads and external links to find the main contenders for OEM interface systems to be...
$299 VAISTech Soundlinq Sli (http://www.vaistech.com/sli.html): looks like higher end model made exclusively for Toyota/Lexus that has more advance text support and communication than other models but twice the cost unless you wait for group buy.
$159 Dice Interface (http://www.diceelectronics.com/ipod_integration.htm) look like mid range model that has both complex mode where more is controlled from head unit and simple mode where more is controlled from iPod, but doesn't support text information on head unit like the soundlinq.
$139 USA Spec (http://www.usaspec.com/ipod.html) looks comparable to the Dice unit but a little cheaper and can be bought at crutchfield who provides excellent tech support and wiring/install diagrams specific to the car for free.
There are also cheaper models from Blitzsafe, etc. but those don't look like I route I'd be comfortable with. Sooo, I am asking for anyone with a 2003+ 4runner (pref no Nav) who has done this to answer..
1. Which ones did you look at and what did you choose?
2. How easy was the install and where did you mount the box?
3. What mount did you use to hold the iPod and where put?
4. How does it work? (i.e. text display, sound Q, control lag, etc.)
5. Are you free to control all songs on Ipod or need to use playlists?
Finally, I am considering buying a solera Nav from OEMValue and am wondering what experience Nav users have had with these (sames Q's as above).
THANKS!
JC
