Anyone welded exhaust on themselves?

Coming over from the 4th gen section. My friends and I are pranking my friend by installing a cutout on his third gen while he's gone. My other friend said its hard to weld exhaust. I can't see how.
Have any of yall done this and how hard is it?

Its not to bad kinda tough on the vehicle in omp. I've always took it off to weld exhaust.

Yea we're gonna straight pipe it then when he finds out fix it but in the process put a cut out for future fun.

Much easier when the exhaust is taken off first. Also a lot easier if you set the amperage low enough so you don't blow a hole through the metal.

Lol, no offense, but if you guys aren't capable of doing the prank properly, maybe you shouldn't do it?

I know if someone pulled a prank and caused permanent damage to my vehicle, there might be blood instead of lol's.

I don't know. Maybe your "friend" is pretty easy going but there wouldn't be any laughs if someone messed with my truck when I was gone.

I'm all for practical jokes & I dont think they would do it if this guy couldn't handle it. Maybe the exhaust is already rusted out?

I actually told my friend this idea a while ago and he is like yea that'd be funny. Idk now it sounds like a lot of work for a prank. He also didn't even know he had a third gen until I told him he did so he doesn't care at all about his car.

Seafoam his motor, then you can convince him afterwards that it is good for his 4runner. Make sure there are lots of people around!

If you're thinking about welding an exhaus yes it doable I do it all the time... But sounds like a lot of work... Cut the pipe before the muffler and you will get the same effect and then take the pipe off and weld it up for him... Adding a cut out is a little much just for a joke. On a side note I would probably break legs if someone messed with my truck if I was gone, so my vote is let it be... Put some tooth paste on his door handles or something like that instead... You'll get a laugh and it won't cause damage

I think you're overdoing it and putting to much work into put about 5 zip ties on the driveshaft leaves them puzzled for days... Plus u can always remove them afterwards
