Anyone with a 3rd Gen TR4 Running Bilsteins?

I'm about to do a overhaul to my 1999 4Runner; including new brakes, starter, new rack and pinion bushings and NEW SHOCKS!

I want to run Bilsteins I know they are one of the top shocks to run just wanted to see if anyone else using them?

Had them on my 2k, have them in the garage but been too busy to install them on my 02. This time I got the PP 1' lift springs as well. The Billsteins alone are great, they firm up the ride and make corners better, but they aren't overly harsh.
 
I have Bilstein and 1"TRD coil spring.
These are good riding specially corners.
But my choise was not that good I thought.
TRD springs are soft for bilstein so I get knock up at bumps.
ex) Drink splashes.
In my opinion, if you choose Bilstein, it's good to choose high spring rate coils.
 
stiff at first

I am running the Bilstein standard size replacement shocks
on my 99. I also had them on my 2nd gen Runner-a 95. Yellow shocks with blue boots.

I was not happy at first with this selection for my 3rd gen. They started out overly stiff, and washboard roads would really rattle
my teeth from the stiffness and jounce/rebound back from compression.

Since then I have changed tires to the 265/75/16 size and added an ARB front bumper and am happy to report the Bilsteins are exactly what I needed.

So if you are running standard height and weight, you may want to consider the Tokico factory replacement shocks, I read and hear great things about them. But if you have added weight to your rig-then I do think Bilsteins are a good choice.
 
i got some for christmas. they are sitting in my room right now because i haven't had time to put them on. i should have it done this weekend and i let you know then
 
I am running them on my '02. They are definetly firmer than stock, which at first, I wasnt too keen on. Now, If I drive anyone else's car, everything feels too soft to me.
Needless to say Im happy with the choice to go with these vs. OEM.
 
I have the Bilsteins extentions on with my 3" toytec lift and they are great. Extreme improvment in handling and much more comfortable ride.

I see a car parts warehouse and some other large car part warehouses that carry the Tokico brand of shocks.

maybe even TRD of Dallas-authorized Toyota parts
 
I purchased Bilsteins for the front and rear of my 2000 T4R (4WD) from a company called ProAm Parts in Houston, Texas. I purchased Part Number: BE5-F332-H1's for the front and BE5-2451 for the rear. I did a lot of research on shocks before I decided on these. I even called my buddy at Toyota and I was going to order OEM Tokico's. he said "when it came to shocks and time to replace the originals - go with Bilsteins." I took his advice and I have been pleased! They were a little stiffer but I put them on in February of 2012 (Two years now) and everyday, I am glad I bought them. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU REPLACE THE FRONT STRUT MOUNTS WHEN YOU DO THIS!!! I ordered mine from Newnan Toyota in Georgia at a good price.
 
I run billsteins in the back on Tetanus 1. Are doing well for me considering they been there a year or 2. :)

Bilstein 4600 is what I've been running on my 3rd gen for over a year. They are stiffer than stock but with all the body roll the 4runners have this is actually exactly what it needed. They run well on dirt roads with wash board or pot holes and rocks everywhere. But primarily they are a great on the road shock and improvement for the suspension for the 3rd gen. On my Tundra and 2018 Trd 4 runner I run 5100 bilsteins and those shocks are fabulous offroad for both these vehicles. I recently changed my rear shocks on my 3rd gen to Kyb because a failure in 1 of my bilsteins and the truck runs not quite as solid with the 4600 all the way around but I'm fine with the ride.
 
my main concern is messing with a spring compressor. is there anywhere that will sell me the shock/spring I want already assembled?
