Anyone work at Lowes?

I seem to be having a quarter life crisis and I've always wondered a bit about career opportunities at Lowes. I used to know a few people that worked there. They all seemed to like it and had some decent upward mobility potential.

Anyone have any experience here?

I worked at an entry level stocking job there, honestly probably wouldn't mind going back, it's a decent company, they take care of their employees well, and opportunity to move up in the ranks is definitely there.

The ability to advance is definitely there. But when I work at a Lowes there were several bad managers there so they had a high turnover rate. This was a while ago but I would say that with any place of employment you have the chance of having good or bad management .

Not me personally, but I go to Lowes a LOT, and have had lots of interactions with employees there and they for the most part all seem to really enjoy and like working there.

Worked there part time during college 15 years ago. Also worked at Home Depot for a brief period while I was starting my career. Both were decent enough jobs but I wasn't expecting to make either one of them my long term career. What attracts you to Lowes out of curiosity?

In Denver, i have found HD employees much better than Lowes.

Anyway, theres not much of a ladder to climb in retail.

Store Manager for Lowe's for 9 yrs ...good company much opportunity and large bonuses. I've had 110k bonus check handed directly to me...50k, 63k etc on top of a 80k salary.
I've also managed HD and nothing like that exists but still a good company as far as these two stores go..

110k bonus for a 80k salary? I find that hard to believe as a bonus is normally a % of your salary, not *1.3* times your salary, but TBH I wouldn't really care if you're telling the truth either, so my comment is rather useless.

Yeah you do or wouldn't have made a useless comment at all ...
You think I make exactly 80k? You ever heard of someone making an exact whole dollar like that? And second our bonus is 150% of your yearly salary if you make full bonus pop ...hitting every dollar margin in every catagory with double digit comps.

I worked at Lowes for 10 years, and it was a good place overall. Also, I can vouch for the huge bonus potential for upper management. Top performing store managers could very realistically pull $100k annual bonuses.

I worked at home depot for a little over 2 years. I can honestly say it wasn't a bad job. I worked about 5 different departments before I left. Drove about all the equipment, including coming in at 4am sometimes to load all the lumber with the forklift. Actually an awesome and peaceful shift if you dont mind it sometimes. And I would have considered moving up with the company but I found my happiness with the job was heavily influenced with the managers of the time. Managers move around a lot so you see new faces and deal with different stuff constantly. Unfortunately not all are pleasant as with most jobs but eventually I couldnt take certain ones any longer.
