Anyone's cat ever been stolen?

My car converter was stolen off my 3rd gen. Seems to happen more to 3rd gens.(probably worth more?) Anyone have theres taken from their 4th gen?

Fourth-generation cats are located up in the engine bay area. They are less likely to get stolen due to their location. Sorry to hear about yours...

Exactly.

I would wager that in terms of sheer effectiveness, the 4th gens are better and have a higher mineral content.

But yea, to get them you have to practically crawl up into the engine. Theft is usually about low hanging fruit.. in and out.

To those who have had them jacked, do you find out when you start up your truck next time? What happens exactly, is it just very loud?

I had my bolt on cat fall off... so I can speak from experience.

It isn't something you can't notice. You have a gaping hole in your exhaust about where your bum is.. not only is it insanely loud, but you can feel it.

I know people steal for many different reasons, buy why would someone steal these converters? Especially 30 at a time

They usually sell them at junkyards, I believe they're worth a couple hundred dollars due to the platinum inside.

Lost mine about 4 months ago after my truck was towed.

A sawzall and less then 5 minutes os all it takes.

One local Honda dealer had a tent sale. After the tent sale was over they went to move the cars from under the tent. Two had their trans-axles stolen. Amazing what some criminals are brazen enough to do.

Here's a picture of the wonderful surprise we had when we came out of Chandler Fashion Center today. Damn thieves. Be aware.....
