So I spent the last couple weeks out of town doing some training for work, and there were a couple of guys in the class who were huge Apple lovers. We had to listen to them talk about how great Apple was all the time. Well, I finally got sick of it and challenged them to a head to head with my laptop and phone. They said that their macbooks would do a cold boot and be ready to go in 45 seconds. I really had no idea what my bottom end Sony Vaio running Win 7 would do. I knew it was quick but I didn't know if I could beat that. Anyways, the first one to have their browser up and running would win. I was pretty happy cause I was browsing in 43 seconds and their Macbook took 54 seconds. Round one- PC. For the next one we sat there with our phones- iPhone 4 vs. HTC Incredible. The other guys in the class came up with 5 websites. We would start on the first one and after it loaded completely they would give us the next. I was done while he was just starting to load his fourth. I know there are other factors like how fast we could type and stuff. Whatever. It was nice to lay the smack down on em.
One of the guys told me about this video about the iPhone 4 and the HTC Evo. I thought it was funny. Language though so you may not want to play it too loud at work.

Mac and PC both have their pros and cons. I'm personally going on year two with my first Mac and am really liking it.

The iPhone is a different story though. Android is where it's at.

Sony vaio here...big fan of it and win 7. This past week, I just got my first smartphone...Samsung Epic from Sprint. I am still learning, but I can see why people think android is more flexible. But I got to give Apple credit because their software is more intuitive for computer dummies like me.

I used to be 100% Sony VAIO but now I love my apple products. My old Sony VAIO still runs and is built very well, but there is no comparison between Windows and Apple OS. Also, I don't know where I would be without my iPhone 4!

Got my first Mac a few months ago and its actually been great! Easier to use, more useful features IMHO. But then again, my previous computer was a PC with Vista.:bash:

If Apple were clearly superior I would have Apple products. I'm not dumb. The reason I don't is that most of their claim to excellence is just trendy marketing.

Well, after having an Android phone for 1 week (Samsung Epic from Sprint), i must say that Apple has it together more so than Android. The Epic is a great phone in terms of internet surfing and phone calls (excellent signal reception and clarity!). However, the BT audio streaming sucks to no end, far inferior to my Itouch (3rd gen)...the sound quality is that 1980 cassette with tons of noise. (This is a known problem with Android...and Android 2.2 does NOT solve this issue.) Second issue is that my Prius NAVI/Audio system does NOT recognize any music files in my Epic...again, this is apparently a known problem, but maybe with Samsung phones only...so, can't blame Android just yet.

It seems like most car audio stuff nowadays are designed around Apple stuff. My Itouch sync with my car easily and quickly with beautiful BT audio streaming. USB works as advertised. (Recently, however, Apple did screw up my Itouch with the 4.1 OS because i now have static with playing music via USB.) Still, despite the 4.1 issue, i still have BT Audio streaming.

Sprint/Samsung is damn lucky that the Epic gets good signal and call reception/clarity is the best that i have heard...because otherwise, i would dump this Android phone like yesterday's news! So, now, i have my Epic on my waist for phone calls and my Itouch doing BT audio streaming in my car. Hmmm, i thought that my whole point of going to a smartphone was to have just one device for everything...epic fail! (no pun intended!) :bash:

I will give Apple credit where it's due.

Apple has some of the best, if not the best, interfaces for simplicity and usability. It's very intuitive and easy to navigate.

Apple has great marketing, if they made a toaster, I'm sure there would be a line around the block on release day.

Lastly, the only reason I'll keep sticking with an iPod for a MP3 player is because of the vast aftermarket support.

What I don't like about Apple is they're too locked down, iPods can't play many other file formats, Macs have limited hardware (though with that comes the stability of Macs), since the HAL is not open like Windows.

I have had the Incredible for a couple of months now and all I have to say is that it definitely lives up to its name. But one thing also that I have to say that is mainly due to the HTC's Sense software package because I am not very fond of the motorola android phones.

I'm a hardcore Apple user, have been for a long time, but that's the nature of my work. (Graphic design/photography/art direction.)

I've had Macintosh towers going back to the beige days and laptops almost as long. Having said that; I've never had a mother board, RAM or power supply go bad. None of my PC buddies can say the same.

Regarding the iPhone. Its a great gizmo/gadget/toy/tool/etc. Not a great phone. Best phone I've ever had is a tie b/w a Treo and a rugged Panasonic phone.

Used a PC for the last 15+ years. Never had any hardware related issues with any of them other than one failed hard drive--bound to happen. If your data isn't in two places, it doesn't belong to you. I've probably gone through 10 computers (self built and major brands) from my first one until now.

Never had a PC issue that I couldn't solve myself.

29.9% dropped call rate, just wonderful. It does everything else well!! It will be interesting to see how the iphone works on the verizon network.

Just about everyone I know who has an iPhone can't wait for the day Verizon Wireless gets it. Many of them are willing to pay termination fees to get out of their contract with AT&T to switch. Many of them have said they're only with AT&T for the iPhone.

I think AT&T will see a lot of their customer's flock when the iPhone debuts on VZW. All of the field and remote employees who have iPhones at work complain about coverage, but don't want to (or can't) switch to VZW because of company specific applications that run only on the iPhone.

Yup, that is what I read. The old 3G had a 30% dropped call rate. I can't wait to get out of AT&T, it is awful. Their customer service line isn't very nice either.
