Remember, more and more GPS/Motion apps will be designed for the new M7 processor in the 5S...so that 5S owners can use it without killing battery. Older phones do not have M7 chip...so, these apps may inadvertently run your main (only) processor all the time since these apps may not know the difference b/w iPhone 5S and 5/4S/4. So, be careful of apps you download.

I am not sure that you can quantify it...since to date, iOS7 has been a sucess. Majority? Majority of people around me likes it. All of these changes are on par with HALO concept of latest Google/Android software. This is just the way OS are being designed. Even the tech reviewers have liked iOS7...and they mostly prefer Android due to the openness and customizations.

I agree that I can't quantify, but just reporting what I'm observing. My friends aren't Apple fanatics, they get it b/c it works "better" than other phones. Pretty tough NOT to get a smartphone nowadays. Although I don't officially "HATE" it, I'll give it some more time to acclimatize. Still, lots of changes done............

No matter how many people think that 5S is boring or that iOS7 causes motion sickness or that Apple lacks innovation or that Apple stocks are Blackberry level, Apple itself is not listening to critics nor do they care. They are #1 in the industry for a reason and this is why everyone (including Samsung) rush products out before Apple events to get as many people as they can before Apple swallows more customers. This is why Samsung went out to interview people in the line at Apple Stores because they can't create the same excitement with their own products. This is why Nokia/Windows and Samsung aim their commecials at Apple.

Apple does its own thing...and reluctantly, the industry follows. Example? How many times now have we read about Apple passing on NFC? Critics all chime in about Apple foolishness in excluding NFC chips in their phones for years! Apple remained quiet. Until now. Apple answer to NFC is far superior in Air Drop and iBeacon. Both of these require no new hardware and are far more useful commerically...thus, Major League Baseball has jumped on the bandwagon!

Another example? Camera. No one seems to get the smartphone camera right. HTC went extreme with their 4MP Ultra-pixel camera which was decent in low-light but lacking in daytime shots. Samsung and LG race for mega-pixels and upped their MPs on their latest offerings. Both fail miserably in low-light. Nokia went to the other extreme and create a pretty darn good (bulky) cameraphone with PureView, but then suck donkey balls when it comes to software and user interface! Colors are all over the place in exchange for details. What did Apple do? They did their own thing and went their own way. They made the RIGHT compromises so that low-light performance is good (flash is damn amazing!) while not losing detail in daylight...all the while keeping software super fast and easy to use that a child can do it.

And you wonder why Apple is able to sell 9 million iPhones, despite being one of the last company to introduce their phones this year (Samsung and LG beat Apple by nearly 5 months...LG beat Apple by just over 1 month...Motorola by almost 2-3 months).

There may be iSheeps...but 9 millions ain't all sheeps! I am one of the those who went Android and converted back to iPhone. And yes, i use a Sony Vaio and ASUS laptops at home. No Mac...never had one. But, it is hard to argue with success and retention rate...vs. competitor's turnover rate.

No lies here skip, I have 2 upgrades available to me right now. I was using the 4s to test drive the new iOS. I figure Ill give it a couple of weeks to feel it out and see if a new 5s is in my future. Even with an upgrade it is still a $400 investment for a new phone. Want to be sure the 5s is the way to go.

By the new iOS alone I am not impressed, but thats just me (oh yeah, and a shitload of other people.....but you and the rest of the Apple freaks refuse to believe we exist). BTW, people are allowed not to like Apple, its ok.

I own a lot of Apple products (2 iPhone 4s's, 3rd gen iPod, 4th gen iPod (Classic), 2nd gen iPad, 1st gen Apple TV, 13" MacBook Pro, 17" MacBook Pro, brand new Mac Mini).

The last 2 two iOS updates, combined with the generally poor performance of BOTH of my iPhones is not settling well with me.

My phone is working now with iOS6. Glitchy & problematic, but usable.

Of course, at some point, things have to move forward...or else software becomes obsolete. New features require stronger processor. So, no, hardware does NOT last a long time in tech world!! If you want support to the beginning of time, then people will complain why software is always the same boring stuff. You cannot have it both ways. Isn't that the biggest problem with prior iOS? People complain why Apple hasn't done anything new!

BUT, Apple support is still better than everyone else. Android is no where as supportive of older equipment. Google abandons their own Nexus line after 18 months (even before your 2 year contract is up!). Compare that to Apple. Lets be realistic about expectations.

Upgrade option is there for a reason. Technology moves quickly.

I agree that Apple's support is unmatched, but I feel they should have left the iPhone 4 alone with ios6. Yeah, you leave that behind, but it's better than making the new iOS that is designed for a faster processor backwards compatible with a slower device, reducing the usefulness and speed of the device. I'd be happy with my old iOS6
