Here is my writeup from T120. Figured some might be interested here as well. Unfortunately t4r.org will not let me attach google earth files!
Well I headed out to death valley this weekend with some coworkers and I had a great time exploring some new places as well as some old. In total we had just 3 trucks. My 4Runner, a built 1997 FJZ80 and a very well traveled LX 570 (this is the chase truck for the LX 570 race truck that ran Baja, so off roading is all it knows).
I left Friday around 5:30 from work and arrived at my hotel in Beatty NV at around 1am. It was actually a great drive out, we spent over an hour taking pictures and did about 50 miles off road just on trails we found on my friends iPhone. I have never seen the moonlight light up the night as much as I did on the drive out. Many of the photos I will post are actually night photos but they look like day (30 second exposure).
Attached is a google earth file so you can see my exact route, but it was mainly an exploration trip. The only technical sections were getting up to a peak for a nice overlook and the road to our campsite for Saturday night. The file goes from leaving work on Friday to returning back to my office on Sunday.
Another noteworthy thing, the roads were REALLY rough this time. I rattled two bolts out of my skid plate, the 80 rattle the wingnut off its light, an allen screw out of its rack and bolts out of the mud flap. We had too many miles of washboards.
Here are the google earth files and some of the pictures. I was lucky enough to have one of my good buddies/coworkers with me who is an amazing photographer. He took 460 photos, put 200 on facebook and here are about 50 from there. Some really good ones I thought.
