April 23th meet planning (date change)

Just thought I'd start a thread to start planning the next meet.

I mentioned before that we could go up to 7 Lakes near Bear Mtn. for this one. There's not a lot of trails but it'd be nice to be out in nature. We could all bring a dish or byol (bring your own lunch).

Anyone have suggestions for other places? Ideas?

Bobby...we can meet there and hang out for a while. If folks don't want to bring food, we can caravan down to Palisades Center Mall in Nyack. I don't remember how far Bear Mtn is from Palisades Center though. Tons of places to eat there including Dave and Busters...fun place for anyone who hasn't been there. Also, there's a NASCAR Silicon Speedway there. It's an awesome racing simulator....just have to do the racing before we eat. Otherwise, it may get messy.
 
Crap. You guys have to pick the one weekend I'm on call in like two months. FYI, you are not too far from West Point, which, if it ever stops snowing, should be lookin' pretty nice this time of year, plus there are good places to eat in the little town just outside the gates. [sigh] keep me posted on upcoming meets, hopefully I will actually get to one of these sometime soon.

I would love to join but I have plans for that weekend, however I am interested in hearing more about these trails near bear mountain. I need to find some fun safe off roading not to far from home (Staten Island, New York)

Any Ideas.....
 
We could change the meet to the 2nd or the 23rd. I just thought the 9th would be a good start to plan everything. I'd like to see more guys come to the meets. I might have some time this weekend to do some scouting now that my lift and lights are installed :D.

It's about a 45 minute drive if you take the Palisades parkway.

I live about 3 miles from the mall and I drive to Bear Mountain a few times per year.

BTW, there are some awesome driver's roads up there.... in the seven lakes drive area. It's common to see great-handling cars (M3, Vettes etc..) driving those roads and even a pack of crotch rockets as well.

That's how I know that area. I used to go up there when I had my bike. Back then, not a lot of people knew about it and the roads were just paved. I went up there a few times with my M3 but it gets too crowded so it's not as much fun driving up there, especially on nice days.
 
I can't do the 9th, but I could do the 23rd. Certainly don't base the weekend on my availability, but this would work a bit better for me . . . keep us posted, Bobby, or maybe set up a poll?

I'm thinking the 23rd would be better for me as well.

Any objections? If not, I'll change the thread title to the 23rd.

I was thinking we could meet up at the Palisades Parkway look out point between exit 1 and 2 and then head up since I'm not exactly sure where we'll be going. We can go to Palisades Mall for lunch (isn't there a Dave and Busters there too?)

We'll need communications too. If you have FRS radios, bring them. I have 3. I ordered a cb and antenna too. I have the antenna and mount and the cb should be here next week. Hopefully I'll have that installed by then.

If anyone needs stuff installed, I can bring my tools.
 
23rd works good, I should be able to make it. We can all gather around my truck and stare at the rear red fog light setup that I have and try to understand why my parking lights blink too :)
Keep us updated on the when and where. I have a couple of those family band handheld radios. Doubt I will get a CB.
 
Lunch offer!!!

Perhaps at the meet i can get a knowledgeable "good samaritan" to put my silverstars in without mangling my new ride!!!! Its worth lunch!!!!:D
 
Hey KS...Do you like the Toyota All Weather mats?? I just purchased a pair in Grey. I compared other brands like the weathertecs and huskys and went with the OEM's. Felt they would be a better fit. More important to me than the logo. But i guess i get that too!!!!

I do like the mats. I like the logo part. They seem to work fairly well, but to be honest, in the snow, I've gotten some stains along the outside edge close to the driveshaft hump because the mat edges are not deep enough to catch all the runoff. Unless you get the kind that have the very high sides, which don't look very good, can you really prevent this though- even then I'm not sure the carpet wouldn't get at least a little dirty. I bought a car carpet cleaner which seems to work well, although not sure which brand.

PS- If free food is involved, I call putting in your silverstars :) - Don't worry, its pretty easy.
 
KS....I dont like the "bucket style" mats. While they catch water better and then puddle it-i think i'll give these OEM's a try.....Yes, lunch and the beverage of your choice is on me for the install of the Silverstars. I might even do the fogs then as i bought 2 pair!!!!!!! I'll through in some NYPD stuff!!!!!!:awais:
 
I have 2 sets(4) of Motorolas which i would be glad to share with others!!!!!!!:awais: Latter in April would be better but i will try to make it work for whatever day its scheduled. Comming from the city.
 
April 23rd Meet

Since no one said no to the date change, I figured I'd take the initiative and firm things up. We can meet at the lookout on Palisades Parkway between exit 1 and 2. It's a good size parking lot and we can start off from there.

If you have talkabouts, bring them. We'll be on channel 5, code 0.

If you have a CB radio, channel 23. Hopefully, I'll have mine installed by then. :D


So who's in???
