ARB Air Lockers for 4th Gen.

I know that some guys are running ARB Lockers on their 4Runners. I checked ARB website and found that ARB is offering only front locker, but it's not available yet.
Which ones are you using for front and rear?

Some aftermarket manufactures are making electric lockers. Which technology is better? Some off-road guys are saying that electric is better because it can be easily repaired.

Could the LandCruiser 120/Lexus GX rear locker work on the 4th Gen? It looks like they both use the same front locker, so maybe the rear would work on the 4Runner.

I believe the LandCruiser 120 series sold in other countries uses the same platform as the 4Runner in North America.

ARB Rear Locker RD23
ARB Front Locker RD111 (for gears lower than 4.10, 4.33, 4.56, 4.88, 5.29), RD121 (for gears higher than 4.10, 3.9, 3.727, 3.53)

Hope that clears it up. No gears are currently available. When they do become available I will post it accordingly.

I would first add the rear locker...and see if you still need a front locker at all. A rear locker will be good enough for most off-roading. A front locker on IFS may not be good in the long run if you use it often. That is why you don't see any locker on IFS-equipped SUVs/trucks from the factory...well, i am sure that legality has something to do with that too.

Are you talking about 5 speed and 4 speed transmission? So RD111 for 5 speed (V8 and 05+ V6) and RD121 for 4 speed (03-04 V6).

IFS = Independent Front Suspension.

ARB = Air lockers

The front comes with two different lockers depending on your gearing. If you plan to regear in the future then you should hold off on adding a front locker as once you go over the 4.10 mark you'll need to get a different air locker.

If you plan to keep your stock gears then the RD121 should be the front since both the v6 and v8 models are higher than 4.10.
