ARB front bumper

I plan to replace the factory OEM front bumper on my 1996 4Runner with an ARB front bumper; it's my understanding that ARB did not specifically make a front bumper for the 3rd Generation 4Runners, so instead I have to get the front bumper which ARB designed for the Tacoma and modify it/my truck to install it.

So which specific ARB front Tacoma bumper am I looking for?

Any ARB Tacoma bumper for the 1st gen Tacomas - from 1995 to 2004.

should I also get a front frame reinforcing cross member (or weld a frame end cap mod) to properly mount the ARB front bumper, especially if I plan on mounting my Warn M8000 winch?

hrt4me,

Can you make a thread on installing the arb? I am also considering getting an ARB for my 97. I live 1 hour from Shreveport.

Thanks

The ARB is a really straight forward install as well is the end cap reinforcement.. there should already be plenty of threads here and yotatech to fulfill all your curiosities and questions.

THIS ought to get you started

yup from his link i give you this LINK

This guy's video set is helpful. Instead of welding a washer in the end, I took a 1/4 plate, welded a 7/16 nut to the back, and welded the plate to the end of the frame rail. If you do that you don't need the sleeve around the verticle bolt since the plate will keep the frame rail from crushing.

This might be a little overkill ( ARB Bumper on a 97 4runner - YotaTech Forums ) but you probably want more than a flat washer (or why bother?). Mine is just a flat plate welded to the end of the frame rail.
