ARB Lockers Not Working -- Rear Diff Breather?

Ok, after fixing a leak in the air line I now am not able to engage the lockers due to air escaping out the rear diff breather. I have done the rear diff mod. When I turn on the compressor it runs for a few seconds then shuts off...normal. When I flip the switch to engage the rear locker the compressor continuously runs. I hear the air venting out the rear diff breather. Question -- does this indicate a bad diff breather? If so, easy enough fix and I have already ordered the part. Is there anything else I should be checking? Thanks!

Sounds like a bad air solenoid or bad o-ring inside the Locker.

Must remove the pumpkin to see where it is leaking directly.

Nothing to to with Diff breather.

My thought as well, the locker mechanism should engage, but not leak air when activated. It sounds like there is a leak inside the pumpkin, and the air is escaping via the breather.

you have either a bad "O" ring or a bad seal housing, or possibly a broken copper air line, but i doubt that, as they are hard to break. my bet is either the rubber o ring or the seal housing is bad. either way you are gonn have to pull the 3rd member to get at it and find/repair this. it also might just be who ever installed your locker didnt assemble the bulkhead fitting properly and the line came undone, i know ARBs directions are not the best on this so ive seen it done several times

This same thing just happen to me a few days ago. It's my 96 4runner (hunting rig) with the ARB in the rear - when flipping the compressor on it's good and turns off after pressure builds. Flip the locker on and it starts pissing air out of the diff breather and the compressor starts back up.

I have 4 weekends left of hunting, so I can't rip into it for a while. I'm curious on what it's going to take to fix. I didn't install the ARB, so I'm not to informed on the parts to replace. Need to do some homework apparently.
