Are 4runners just too damn common?

My wife and I noticed this and decided to count how many 4runners we would see on our 20 mins roundtrip to the grocery store. We counted 20 4runners in 6 miles (3miles each way). Of the 20, 3 of the 5th gens non-TRDPro had TRDPro wheels. :lookout:

Try a Chevy Vega or AMC Pacer. That should make you stand out from the crowd and you can probably find one, somewhere.

Same thing here. You said what I have thought many times.

I bought a 2011 right before at the Japanese tsunami that destroyed the assembly plant and had one of the only 5th gens for a couple of years. Now, not the case.

Yep me too. I have two TRD Pros. I bought the Pros for several reasons, and one of those is that you just don't see too many of them. Yes lots of Pro grills and wheels though. Oh well I'm very happy with them. Hers is completely stock except for the SSO Sliders but mine is undergoing a few more mods here and there. Just did a 2.5" lift and the 285s will be going on soon.

Really no more than the Tundras, Silverados, Durangos , Subarus. When you own one (or more) you become really aware of there numbers. We have a Runner & Tundra and they are freakin every where.

But who cares? So are Land Rovers and Chevy Cobalts, to each their own. I guarantee you there isn't another 4Runner that looks identical to mine and that's the way I like it. I've owned 3 4Runners so I know they're common around here, who cares, my truck is my truck

I still see a lot of 3rd gens around here. When a vehicle lasts 25+ years, you will see a lot of them on the road. Still see way more F-150s though.

I see tons of base white and silver SR5s. I rarely see TRD Off roads or Pros. One of the reasons I went with a blue off road premium is because I’ve never seen one driving around, and the Pros get a $5k “market markup” around here which definitely isn’t worth it in my eyes. I’ll just rock the pro wheels and tube steps lol.

“4Runner” and “too common” are mutually exclusive. 4Runners are somewhat common, but it’s impossible for there to be too many of them. It’s something that happens when new ones keep getting bought while the old ones don’t break.

Think of “too much” and “money”. Can’t happen.

4Runners aren’t extremely common in my area. I see a couple every day. Some days none besides me. You really want to feel like everything else on the road, drive a Ford F-150 XLT. Pull up to the building material entrance parking of any Home Depot and you’ll be one of many that all look the same. When I had my ‘17 F150 the worst day was 14 of us in a row. It looked like a dealer lot!
