are 96-02 tail lights all the same??

I see some sites listing 96-02 all the same and some saying 01-02 is all the same. On Toyota Part Source - Your Source for Genuine Toyota Parts and Toyota Accessories it says 97-02... can anybody tell me for sure ? My right side has a crack in it and would like to replace it soon. Thanks

yep you should be good. alot of guys here buy the newer gen (01-02) lights to put on their 98's 99's

Your better off buying the LED ones or buying a single on off ebay, because everyone and their brother wants the 01's, i lucked out and stalked a member when i saw he was getting rid of his.

You could do what I did... buy a 01 and a 00. Lol. I had my 2001 then found the 2000 I really wanted. I swapped out the tail lights before I am selling the 2001. The 2000 don't look that bad and I highly doubt the new buyer will care/ even notice but when you put them side by side the 01-02 rears look significantly clearer. Good luck with your search, best bet is going to be eBay.

Was it just me or did anybody notice the light harness was different? I had to swap those as well to make the bulbs fit.

^^ I would be curious to know what the "going rate" is too... I have some kind of aftermarket tails on my 2000 Limited that were on it when I purchased it... bu I would like factory instead.

Hell I almost fell over when I saw the eGay price for a rear cupholder to replace my broken one. :jaw drop:

LOL! almost convinced me... haha no actually ill be replacing my 01's with some smoked LED tails soon but i gotta get the money first, those things are pricey! but im still on the fence for selling them, ive been hearing about some defects going on the with LED lights?? so i duno yet

hold up, the holes in the back are actually not quite the same size, the back up and turn signals are a little bit different size. you have to get the wiring harness with it too.
