Im looking into a '97 and got some info on this vehicle;
1997 Toyota 4Runner, SR5, 4x4, 5 Spd, White, 3.4L 24 valve Four Cam V6, 189K Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors, rear window, A/C, Tan Cloth Interior, Alarm, Keyless Entry, Remote Start, Tinted windows all around, 31" Michelin LTX tires on 15" stock rims, SAFETIED! ( Passed Apr 1 2005, just yesterday 1st time through with ease )
$17 000 obo. Perfect Truck for the TRD SuperCharger

Well maintained, Synthetic Fluids all around: Mobil 1 Engine Oil, Synthetic Trans, Transfer Case and Diff oils, Toyota Long Life Coolant, Everything Toyota Genuine Parts except Goodyear belts, Interstate 1000 CCA battery, skid plate bolts, and minor engine add-ons.
No "PISTON RING: AUTO VALUE" Shopping done.
Mods:
Pioneer DEH-P5500 MP3/CD, prewired for amp/sub in the rear hatch. Only tested out my amp and sub. ( Custom Sub/AMp install was one of my summer projects planned ) , Custom power attenna switch to make it go up or down at will.
AIR RAID Throttle Body Spacer ... didn't really feel increased power, but definately increased highway fuel economy.
Air Box Deck Plate Mod: cut a hole in the Air Box, installed a replacable screw in lid to seal off the hole again. again, further increased Fuel Economy and gave the engine a wicked howl and grunt when at wider throttle.
AMSOIL reusable washable air filter. 4Runner enthusiasts online claim the Amsoil cleans better than K&N and that what I wanted, clean.
White Front signal and corner lights. ( still have the stock amber lights )
Had this truck for 4 years, did everything but serious off roading, the odd trip off a dirt trail when camping or blasting through deep snow for the hell of it that's it.
Went everywhere from Banff to Montreal with it.
Never had to do serious repairs, This Toyota is SOLID!
Recent Repairs:
Timing Belt done at 135K
Toyota Spark Plugs, 1 yr
New front sway bar bushings 6 mo.
New Front Stablizer Links, 6 mo.
New Inner Tie Rod ends and boots. 6 mo.
Rear brake shoes, 1 yr
This add was over a year ago and since then has 200 000 kms(Around 125 000 miles). Now my concern is the high amount of k's. Would it be wiser to search for another with lowers k's, especially being a '97? The asking price has been brought down btw.
