Are Kenwood remote's interchangeable?

I have the DDX-812 and I can't stand the remote, the mute button is awkward, the volume is too small and there are too many buttons I will never use.

I would like to use a more "simple" remote from another model...do you guys know if any would work?

Got an email back from Kenwood they of course said "The included remote is the only remote that is garanteed to work with your system". Thanks for your help Kenwood.

I think I'll just order a cheap remote of Ebay and hope for the best.

I bit the bullet and ordered a cheap Kenwood remote off of Ebay for $7, just got it today....works like a charm...and the buttens are SO much more user friendly. If anybody else is in the same boat the remote I bought is model # RC-517
