Are rear shocks different on KDSS ?

Our 2018 TRD OR Premium has the KDSS system. The stock rear shocks are getting weak and making noise. I want to replace them with Rancho RS9000XL RS999305 shocks. Looking them up on the Rancho website it states:

2018 - 2024
Toyota
4Runner
TRD Off-Road Premium
without Kinetic Dynamic or X-REAS Suspension

My question is, how are the rear shocks on a KDSS 4runner any different?

One of the results listed is 2015 TRD ORP KDSS rear shock upgrade advice

It has member Parnavaz asking the same question as me. Member Friggin Idiot does state he had the Rancho shocks working with KDSS but he didn't like them. I guess that essentially answers the question without directly answering it. On his build thread he shows pics of the Ranchos installed.

Member Parnavaz states he emailed Rancho the question but never received a reply.
