Are these lift options okay?

Good question. I'd like to get about a 2" lift.

I'm thinking if I get the spacers I'll have to get extended travel rear shocks.
If I stay with the 99 talls I can keep stock shocks.

Are the spacers a bad idea?

The general drawback of spacers is they can over extend the down-travel and limit the up-travel of the suspension. Probably fine for on-road and mild offroad driving, but I'd skip on the spacers for optimal off-road performance

Why are you going with 01 coils in the front? I would just do 99s. For the shocks if you want 5100s then go with the Tacoma 5100s, not the tundras. Tundras will be stiffer than you want

I'm staying with 01s in the front to keep costs down.
I can get plenty of lift from the 5100s in the front since I'm only using 99 talls in the rear.

Just ordered:
99 rear talls
5100 Tundra front struts
5100 rear shocks

I paid $202 for 99 talls with shipping
I paid $385 for all 4 5100s with shipping
For a total of $567.
I was trying to stay around $500 and the 99 talls up front would have put me over $700. Wife wouldn't have gone for that and I thought they weren't necessary because, as is stated, I can get all the lift I need out from the adjustable shocks.

I've just come back to OEM shocks with 99 talls from Tacoma 5100s. I am so happy I went back; the compression on the 5100s was way to stiff and rebound was not controlled (20,000 miles).

Plus you'll learn that if you flex the rear really hard, the extra travel on the 5100s will make your driveshaft rub the gas tank skid plate.

On top of that, I only lost about half an inch of lift switching back.

Hopes this helps other people with 2wd/4cyl... try new springs first before getting new shocks.

After spending some time last night jacking the truck up to different heights and looking online for lift options I want to get your guys opinion on this setup. So Im thinking 99 tall coils front and rear, possibly with the daystar 1 inch spacer kit, with rancho rs5000 series shocks and struts. I say rancho because they are decently priced and having used them on some other vehicles they ride pretty nice.

Swapping my 5100s and TRD springs/OME 890s on our new 02 Sport today, we're in Bozeman too if you want to check it out after its done. On our last truck (drunk driver totaled it) it sat fairly level with a little bit of rake and fits 33s nicely.

What about Jaos Battlez coils?

In following this thread, my prospects for a lift got a little more practical and I also decided on going with 99 talls and gem shocks to match. BUT, then I saw the jaos battles coils. I can't find any comments about them. Does anyone have anything to say about the Jaos Battlez especially as to how the ride might compare with 99 talls? Thanks for any information.
