Are wheel spacers really worth it?

Are wheel spacers really worth it? i have the money for spidertrax now but are they really worth it??? does it make a huge difference in the stance of the truck? i have other things that i could spend the spare cash on but these have been waiting in line of my things i want once i get extra spending cash. thanks.

I feel that made a huge difference in the look/stance and were well worth the $. Take a look at the pics on my site.
 
those look sweet. i think im gonna go for em....is the cheapest place burtman industries?? there like 198 there compared to 200 everywhere else haha
 
Call All-Pro Off Road and ask them for their hub/rim centric spacers in 1.25 spacing. They are not on their website. I saved about $30 from Spidertrax. Nothing against them, but I like saving a buck. I have had zero problems with them. 100% reccomend.
 
I have the All-Pro 1.5" on mine and I love them. HOwever, you will most likely have to do some minor trimming on the insides of your wheel well. They will rub when cutting your tires back and forth, especially in reverse, but no major operation. Not sure if the All-Pro come in smaller than 1.5, but you could call and see. All four for my 2002 runner were $150. I recommend getting the extended lugs as well for $10 or so.
 
if you're running stock wheels, it'll make a WORLD of difference. if you run aftermarket wheels, hopefully you bought a set with the right width and offsets so it sits flush with the fender.

spidertrax are the only way to go... and they're not wheel spacers, but wheel adapters specific to the toyota 4r.

okay so if i got spidertrax for now then say 6 months later i bought some moto metal wheels. i couldnt use the spidertrax? i dont want to waste 200 and then just take em off within 6 months...thoughts???

The All-Pro "spacers" that I bought are specfic to the 4runner as well and I can see no difference in the Spidertrax vs. All-Pro other than the color and price. Made from the same material at the same strength, same bolt pattern, hub-centric, etc..... I think Spidertrax refers to them as "adapters" and All-Pro refers to them as spacers - but they are the same thing. Technically, spacers do not have the replacement bolts attached to attach the wheel to, they just have holes that slide over the existing bolts. I guess you could call them wheel extenders, adapters, spacers, extrapolators, etc.....
 
Regarding "adapters" vs. "spacers", actually I believe adapters are to convert one bolt pattern of a certain make to another of the same make, but maybe not.
 
I know it's been discussed to some degree before, but I don't think there was really ever a concensus about whether wheel adapters/spacers will cause mechanical issues over time. In addition, what about ride quality?

I was considering them too but for fear of having wheel/axle/suspension issues sooner than normal, I decided not to get 'em....any new thoughts on these potential issues? I'm sure the original poster would benefit from know this info too.

The consensus is that if properly installed, there are minimal issues. If not properly installed, you're looking at broken studs, warped rotors and excessive wear on the bearings. Another disadvantage is that most tire shops will not touch your vehicle with them on there.

I think excessive wear on bearings will happen regardless of if the spacers are installed correct, the same goes for different offset wheels. I am expecting my life on my bearings to be shortened, but it is worth it.

All-Pro does not offer 1.25 on their web-site, they start at 1.5, but, ...., anyways, ....., for all four on my 02, which is hub-centric, plus getting the extended lugs,...., with tax, title, and license, ....., $160. You may want to call them and see if they have 1.25 available.

I would not say it is excessive. There will be more wear on the bearings if you push the tires out further from them, regardless of the method (spacers, or wheels with less backspacing/offset), but it's not like you'll be replacing bearings as often as you replace wiper blades.
 
so if i wanted to get around spacers and just buy new wheels what would be a good offset to push the tires out and mimic the spacer look?
