ARGH...coolant gauge not wrking ! :(

ok...so i justgot done replacing my valve cover gaskets a tune up... fired it up and it runs perfect...on my was to the gas staion i noticed my coolant gauge never got to the middle. once i arrived at the gas station i touched both hoses and they were up to operating temp.

i did not disconnect the coolant temp sensor...i check for power at the sensor and am recieving the 5v refference. i hooked up my snap on scanner and saw coolant temp at 190F. I checked all fuses and found none blown

has anyone else experienced issued like this? am i alone on this?

Check the wire to the gauge sensor. The sensor hides behind the upper plenum in the lower manifold behind and to the left of the fuel pressure regulator. You may have pulled the wire off.

i jus checked and was unable to see it? if you are reffereing to the one in front near the upper rad hose/ thermostat housing it is plugged in

Nope, behind the upper intake manifold and between it and the firewall. It is right in front of and below the connection for the heater core hoses. It sits right between them.

You are speaking of the ECT sensor.

I managed to find the pic for ya. The sensor is at the end of the leaf. Tan connecter.

But also check everything electrical ya undid for the VC replacement.

aaah wtf do i have to replace my gauge cluster again! i had a issue with the fuel gauge not too long ago so i had to replace it and now this. FML...

If you were able to monitor the coolant temp through the OBD 2 port, then the ECT sensor is hooked up and working.

Since you had the gauge cluster out recently, I'd look for an issue there.

little ceasar...right on money man i owe you one. turns out i yanked the wire out of the connector...had to wire in a new female connector.

Not a problem. I am glad that I still had that pic stored on my photobucket account.

I will one up you though. I managed to break the connector to the crank position sensor while changing my valve covers two years ago. I had to use a small dab of automotive Goop to keep it in place on the sensor for 6 months until I could find a replacement connector in a junkyard for free.
