Hey I just purchased my first 4Runner last week. I got a 2011 SR5 4WD.
I am interested in adding a grill guard of some sort. Im not sure where to start. I've only seen a couple options and mostly for Tacomas or Tundras. SOrry I cant answer you question but maybe you can point me in the right direction.

I have this grill guard. Tried to install it last January. However, the couldn't get the bolts off of the bumper bracket in like the 3rd step. haha It may have been a combination of the serious cold, and working in the limited space under my 4R because I didn't have access to a lift....
Regardless, took it to the dealership and had them put it on. Cost like $75 bucks for them to do it for me. Anyway, here are a couple pics of it installed. I apologize for the cruddy iPhone pics. If you want any other views just let me know.

I had aries bull bar, its ok but I don't like installation. I guess there is no other ways to fit those brackets without cutting plastic underneath, that part I didn't like. I took it off and sold it and I want metal bumper now, that way it will protect for sure:ybrick:

I just bought this Aries brush guard. I've had issues getting the bumper mounting bolts off (5 of them came off, but the top one on the driver's side is being a pain). I was going to take my 4Runner in for the 30k mile service this week anyway so I'm going to ask them to get the last one off for me (hopefully they don't charge a bunch for it- I've already removed all the splash guards that are in the way).
Anyway, I was looking ahead to adding the mounting brackets for the brush guard and ran in to a problem. It says to put the front part of the bracket through the hole in the bumper cover then rotate the part up that you are supposed to mount. The part that sticks through the bumper though seems to be too tall. Did anyone that installed this have to cut the plastic on the bottom of the bumper to make this fit or am I just doing something incorrectly? To be clear, I'm not talking about cutting the plastic splash guard that the instructions clearly indicate to cut.

mine was a bit tight and did rub against the plastic but i was able to get it to stand up right and mounted to the body
I added the Aries last month. Those mounting brackets will fit through the hole in the bumper, but it's tight. I followed their recommendation of covering the bumper area with painter's tape before starting on that. Got it figured out, but it sure looked impossible to begin with. Tape keeps you from scratching the bumper while working with it. THEN....
I too couldn't get the bumper mounting bolts out. No lift here, and I'm not as limber and flexible as I used to be. Put everything back normal, called my favorite independent shop and made an appointment for the next day.
They charged me about $100 to do the job, but it was worth it. Everything looked good, quality fit, and I didn't have to work on the truck in the freezing weather. Best of all, no cut up hands and arms from working upside down under the truck.
Had it about a month now, and am glad I got it. Instead of people trying to snuggle up to the front of the truck in the parking lots, they now keep their distance for some reason. Still watch for suicidal deer, but not as much worry about them.

I recently purchased the Aries grill guard as well. I've installed & uninstalled twice and have now taken pics to try and sell it. The entire piece shakes like crazy when I'm driving down the road. My husband welded stability wedges onto the mounting brackets to see if this would help...no such luck. I'm at a loss. Has anyone else had this issue?
