Man that's crazy! I wonder if yours got damaged in shipping or something? For the bend I mean.

Mine seemed to be fine when I mounted it, I didn't have to do any bending or mod any of the holes. My only issue is, where the front part of the skid mounts to the two holes in the front crossmember, mine are so stripped they keep backing out. And the skid puts a bit of downward pressure on the threads because it could be bent ever so slightly more for it to fit perfect.

If I re-tapped those holes and moved to larger bolts it would be fine

No obvious damage to the skid from shipping. I think the lack of adequate bending was from the manufacturing process. It was ~2" away, and while I could've used super long bolts to pull it into place, I chose to bend it. If I wasn't familiar with metal fabrication, I would've sent it back to them!

I recommend that you bend it so that the bolts don't have to pull the skid into place.

BTW, if you ever re-tap holes in a vehicle, don't use the cutting taps you can buy at hardware stores, use thread forming taps, sometimes called "thread restoring" taps, as they don't remove metal. If you use a metal cutting tap, you are removing material and you create a much looser fit between the bolt and the threads.
